Agreed. I'm an Independent and in some ways, one would think I'm conservative because of all these things; pro-police, strong border control, thinks trans women have no place in women's sports.. However, I am pro-choice and very much pro-gun control. I feel like I don't have a home in either party.

Awwww. Poor babies have to compromise because they don't have the perfect candidate. Political candidates never align entirely with a single voters views. Quit your belly aching over nonsense and choose based on your most critical issues.

And don't get manipulated that some issue that affects a tiny fraction of people is somehow more pressing than an issue that affects half of the population of the country.

DP. You seem unable to comprehend what the PPs are saying. They ARE choosing based on THEIR most critical issues. I'm wondering when you will come to the realization that YOUR most important issue is not everyone else's - not by a long shot. For someone who no doubt spends 100% of your time braying about accepting people's differences, you seem to have an awfully hard time accepting the fact that we're all entitled to our own opinions.

Nope. The options are fascist, speech-policing imbeciles, or else Republicans.

So no choice at all, is what you are saying.

Democrats certainly don't offer a "choice" when it comes to speaking and opinions. There is only your way, or the highway. I'll take the highway, thanks.

I feel like two Tennessee Democratic politicians have something to say. As do trans kids across several states. As do women unable to access healthcare. School children who aren’t allowed to learn American history because it might make them “feel bad.”

I can’t imagine why the OP wants to align with these “social conservatives.”

Sure - and plenty of Republicans have something to say too. The issue is, they are shouted down whenever they try and say it. Judge Kyle Duncan, Riley Gaines, basically any conservative-leaning person is required to stay silent.

So weird because I see them flapping thier fat lips on TV, the radio and the internet every day. You can say WTF you want and so can I. I can call your opinions garbage if I want. I can encourage boycotts if I want. JUST LIKE Rs do.

Go right ahead. You are one odd duck, and that's an understatement. Democrats are the OG boycotters. You people live and breathe boycotts and protests. Drama and outrage = Democrats.

Oppression of women is not your critical issue. The fight against this oppression will be fought and won without you. We get it. You want to be with the losers and that is your right.

I don’t think trans women belong in women’s sports either but I’m smart enough to notice that republicans don’t otherwise care about or support women’s athletics; they’re using it as a wedge issue to begin attacking trans rights altogether and then on to attacking gay rights. LGBTQIA+ deserve human rights. See the long game.

We need where to go that is not GOP, but also not the Democratic Party.

Keep looking for that unicorn which can’t exist in our current system. Or you can just get on the bus that’s going forward instead of the bus that’s going backward.

You lack imagination. And Dems don’t understand independents which means they will keep getting blindsided.

Who was it that was blindsided in the last three elections? Not the Democrats.

They were blindsided by Trump as the most obvious example. Abortion will likely hold them at the presidential level for 2024 unless the economy really tanks in away that everyday people define it for themselves.

We need to shut down GOP "pro life" rhetoric once and for all. They have repeatedly proven they do not actually value life or quality of life. They are only pro-pregnancy and pro-birth. They aren't actually pro life.

This actually made me - a pro-choice woman - laugh. Yes, you go right ahead and "shut down" any speech you don't agree with. Your wacko henchmen in colleges and universities across the US have made that their mission already. Do you even hear yourself? You're a walking contradiction. In short, you sound like a psycho fascist who would happily ban any speech that rubs you the wrong way. Good luck with that!

I am the poster who posted this meme and you are seriously reaching with your "wacko henchmen and colleges and universities fascists ban speech" yadda yadda yadda.

What I was referring to is calling the Republicans out for their hypocrisy the second they trot out their phony "pro life" nonsense given how FACTS belie it. Nowhere did I say "ban" or advocate for fascism. Nowhere did I mention colleges and universities. What it's about is being ready to beat them at the punch for every time they try to pathetically claim they are pro life. Because, they're NOT.

Do YOU even hear yourself? Slow your roll and stop making so many assumptions. Because with that overreach, you just sounded every bit as unhinged as the "psycho fascists in colleges and universities" that you just complained about.

That drama and outrage and protests got us a 40 hour work week, anti-child labor laws, civil rights, and women’s suffrage. THANK YOU PROTESTERS!

Minor police reform, stronger DUI laws, cleaner water and other environmental reforms, gay rights, women's rights. What has all the whining and boycotting from the right accomplished other than rolling back all these gains, at most, and at worst, supporting a criminal candidate, an insurrection, Nazis, and the right to shoot up kids in their schools?

Stop conflating illegal & legal immigration.

Unless you were Chinese, all immigration was legal immigration.

DP... "OG?" Maybe you're either very young, new to politics, or you've forgotten that Republicans have been into "cancel culture" for decades - Dixie Chicks, "freedom fries" and canceling the entire country of France and so many other things come to mind...

Uh huh. Just like the heydey of Roe. I want all the ladies waking up at 36 weeks and saying, "today I'll get a mani pedi and stop for an abortion on my way to the grocery store" you imbecile.

It feels like 2024 election will come down to voters who are fed up with rising crime and how there is a lot of shoving performative wokeness soundbytes and virtue signaling down their throats from the last few years vs. keeping abortion legal and the abortion pill.

Basically, it will be people who are over whiny progressives who just let crime happen and excuse it out of “fairness” vs.right wing authoritarian religious types who are trying to outlaw women’s rights.

I wish we could get a pro abortion, low to moderately low tax President and congress, who will legalize drugs and prostitution and push for mass transit and high speed trains, but also push things like rebates for electric cars. Also we would still allow for oil drilling in the interim. We also need gun control, so a President that could honestly enact meaningful gun reform laws would be best.

I mean that’s all a pipe dream, because as has been said we are becoming an increasingly polarized nation of regressive evangelical led book banning imbeciles Vs performatively woke cry babies who find a grievance in everything and are too obese or weak willed to serve in the armed forces.

I want a pro-choice (with free & close access to abortions up until birth) but a police state a la Singapore.

Republicans haven't done anything about rising crime either - crime is way up in Republican-run cities like Jacksonville, Oklahoma City, Miami, Tulsa and many other places. As for "performative" the right is completely up there with disgusting, whiny and fake performances of their selective outrage du jour, we didn't miss the hilarious face-palm moments like photos of Kid Rock partying with a drag queen that surfaced just days after he shot up cases of Bud Light over LGBT... If only you could take a step back and look at the big picture to understand how much of the right wing rhetoric is completely fake - it's all distractions, because they don't actually have any solutions to offer anyone.

Legalizing drugs and prostitution at the federal level is also a pipe dream because of the 10th amendment.

The GOP made their bed and now has to lie in it. They are desperately trying to hold on, but the writing is on the wall. The voters do not want the GOP is selling.

The voters ignored the anti abortion scolds because roe was in place. They never were going to tolerate the end of Roe.

Roe and lack of alternative ideas (eg, on healthcare) are huge issues that will not garner support from independents which both parties need to win.
