Maret and former Whittle students?

But let’s say that’s the case although it’s not. In fact, the school he founded failed terribly and he didn’t “know” or was just an “employee” even though his wife per the Whittle website was the Special Assistant to the new HoS and per the reports Chris Whittle in 2021-2022 through the collapse.

He still spectacularly failed in a lesser school. Then there were documented questionable behaviors and lack of any comment or empathy for those that fared less well than his family in the collapse. That all came out AFTER the job offer.

Students get acceptances revoked for performance slipping and questionable behavior prior starting. Why not the administration?

This is ridiculous, Chris Whittle founded the school. That is a fact and Whittle clearly looks like the scumbag. All the lying and conniving that man has done and you are believing him when he tries to deflect the blame in one of his employees direction? SMH.

Could you or any one of the pretty vicious people here please post an actual reputable article revealing that Dennis Bisgaard did anything worse than take a job leading Whittle? Where is an actual link to all this reporting in a 14 page thread trying to bring down the reputation of an educator with 30+ years experience?

I am neither a fan nor a critic of this gentleman but this thread is a bit frightening to me in terms of what anonymous people can do to soil someone's reputation with not one shred of real evidence that would hold up to the standard of a news article or court (for those who are implying that he and his wife may have financially profited from this venture).

Core Maret values are, inter alia, integrity (?) and excellence (?). Let’s say Chris Whittle is the only guilty party, the HOS and they as a couple still showed questionable integrity, poor stewardship of the resources or lack of ability/willingness to read the financial situation of the school, and unfathomably poor business judgment. Not to mention the lack of excellence in the core job or running the school, role modeling for the students and parents, and having success in that core role in a school of comparable stature in the past 5 years.

This is getting repetitive and I’m not interested in relitigating an issue where all the facts are on one side, and they speak loudly for themselves. I’m willing to reengage if I hear a single new fact on the other side.

For example, have either HoS or his wife bothered to express any concern or remorse or address their roles? Has the wife denied being paid in 2021-2022? Has anyone explained the curious CV fudging with the whole last year of deep Whittle involvement has been erased?

You seem to think this is trolling and we should all be browbeaten into silence. That’s not the case. Addressing some of those might sway some minds, but otherwise this reads objectively — say you are advising a client — as the case to reopen the selection process.

So...no link, huh?

There were many sources as well as first hand accounts provided which were deliberately targeted and deleted but some still stand. I really don’t know but just so it’s not always the last word being you’re a troll when you are trolling yourself BUT without any facts, maybe just check some for yourself: google whittle directories and organizational structure, review the complaints in the DC Superior Court, read the Washington Business Journal, LinkedIn, Bios and Press Releases, Twitter, Google the rest. There’s a ton if you’re open to really looking.

And then there’s what you will not find: any comment by the HoS or his wife as the school collapsed and lives and livelihoods were devastated in the wake of the Whittle collapse and their leadership work there.

All of this above and anywhere allegedly of course.

I stand corrected: one curiously timed tweet as the collapse was announced to the public with the HoS saying something like if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all, which some, especially those that allegedly reported having to sign NDAs for a partial payment and benefits for the services already rendered, read as a threat.

And honestly, the hounding for posting anything about this makes me feel like they might not be off the mark.

Personal opinion. Free speech.

Why don’t you sign on and post some facts? You just make wild allegations with no evidence.

Huh?

FWIW, after Whittle collapsed I never imagined it would come to this HoS taking up the Maret post. I assumed it would be handled quietly by the Board, Washington style. Instead of a massive embarrassment, they’d take a position elsewhere to “be closer to the family” or such.

I guess after Trump everyone’s expectations are super low and people are not easily embarrassed any longer.

Hundreds hahahaha I am sure that the administrator could pull my IP address and tell you that (1) I am not the original poster, (2) do not start/nor have started a thread bad-mouthing Maret, and (3) have not posted hundreds of times about Maret or any other school. My kid is at Maret. Last thing I want is to bash the school. I am presenting our perspective.

Every school, like every job, has its plusses and minuses. I question Maret's Whittle choice. I am not on the Board. I was not on the committee choosing the candidates. I merely am a little parent who simply attended the meetings. I don't like the choice. I don't know what went on behind the scenes. Objectively, and taking a step back, it seems strange that ANY school would take a chance on Dennis given what happened at Whittle. It's that simple. We're giving it a year.

Back in my day, my independent school picked a new HoS after a very sudden departure of the old HoS (he died). The parents liked the guy, found him personable, but he had no business leading the school. He left after two years. The school is still standing today and doing quite well, so a strong school will manage through even terrible leaders. Let's just see if Maret is strong. I hope it is. My kid is there, and I hate to move him. But, I will if I need to do so

I take a lot of time away from these boards as they drive me bonkers. I actually only found my way back b/c my kid told me he had heard about DCUM chatter re Maret. Now I remember why I stay away. Good night. I'm done.

- Signed. Maret parent with happy kid, but parent who never would have picked Dennis.

Does the Board know about these posts? This doesn't look good for the school...

Doesn’t look good to whom? A tiny cluster of lonely posters spending time gossiping about private schools? I think that universe is rather, um, contained and finite.

I’m not a huge fan of the selection but the notion that this board has reputational impact on a school (outside of the handful of posters) is, of course, absurd.
