I am convinced everything is sweeter (and in a different way) than it was when we were kids. I was trying to find a lower sugar bread for my kids and picked up one that was advertised as such only to find it had stevia in it. What's wrong with things being just...not sweet?
with red pasta sauce it is frequently added to decrease the acidity of the tomatoes not to sweeten.

Yeah, it's pretty mediocre food but people in NOVA swear by it.

Hot take about poor people 👍

Nothing to do with poor people. You can eat healthier food for less money

Another PP chiming in, I grew up poor on free lunch food stamps and fast food. A burger is like 7$ / $10 and fills me and is warm, please tell me where else and how I could get a bread meat fries and some tomato’s and seasoning for $10. Taco Bell was a staple where I grew up.
Your privilege is showing.

I make over 100K which to me is like being a millionaire and I eat super healthy but I’ll never ever judge fast food.

Fine, but it's a delicious casserole.

- we use fresh minced garlic, ginger, herbs, onions, tomatoes.
- we grate our own cheese
- we make our own pasta, pasta sauce, rotis, bread, yogurt, ghee.
- yes to using kerrigold butter.
- we also make fresh cream from raw milk. we use farm fresh eggs. You have to be careful using it and hygiene is very important.
- we grind our own meat instead of buying it from store. The quality and taste is amazing.
- I only use basmati rice imported from India and I make it in the traditional way - wash three times, cook in water like pasta.
- we like quinoa but we no longer eat it plain. we mainly make a spicy upma or pilaf out of it. That is the only way we can make it appealing.
- we make our own tea masala. roast, grind and brew our own coffee.
- we do not use sugar substitute. We use honey, sugar or jaggery. I also make a puree of dates to sweeten my drinks.

Ahhhhh rich people *chefs kiss*

I can a lot of things because then we can have healthy foods I raised without pesticides all winter long.

I do agree that some veggies don’t can well. Corn, green beans, and fruit like tomatoes and applesauce can well ( if you like southern style green beans with bacon grease and onions, that is. I happen to love them!)

Canning definitely has a place in my life. So does the foodsaver/deep freezer for certain other veggies, though.

Mahout your mouth. Mango and sticky rice is one of the best desserts ever.

Do they mean Asian minus Indian? I love Indian sweets.

Asia is a huge continent, that pp is really kind of ignorant. Good baklava is divine, and there are a lot of other really good middle eastern desserts as well.

NP. I hate baclava. And while I love Indian savory food, I really really don’t like Indian desserts (and yes, I’ve been to India. Still nope on desserts).

Another NP. I've lived in both the Middle East and India. Desserts of ME and Asia suck. Only Europeans can make great desserts. There, I said it. Now you can show up at my house with pitchforks and torches.

+1. I have Indian heritage (actually from a region that is well-known for its sweets) and also do not like Indian desserts at all. I also don’t care for Middle Eastern and Asian desserts, just not my preferred flavors. I like many savory Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, and Indian dishes, though.

Ok, but you sound kind of insufferable.

People from jersey always talk about how great the food in jersey is and they are talking about New York bagels and pizza. Jersey food is nothing.

You don't need to eat meat! It's beyond cruel to the animals and also research has shown that a vegetarian diet is healthier.

Fast food and any of the sugary drinks at Starbucks are gross.

Ketchup, mayo and ranch are trashy.

Anything but a thin layer of frosting makes me gag.

If you love animals you have to eat them! Otherwise, most of the animals we raise wouldn’t exist at all, and we wouldn’t want to deprive them of their very existence.
