Microwaving vegetables is gross. Steaming vegetables is mostly gross (with a very few exceptions, such as edamame and Chinese peapods). Vegetables should be sauteed in butter or oil.
In general, people should never go more than three days without visiting the grocery store. Much better to buy as you use. Use the small basket, not the big carts. Eating fresh is best.
Butter and ice cream from the Midwest (Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin) taste shockingly better than they do on the East Coast. Store brands of these items in the Midwest knock "national" brands out of the park.
American cheese (e.g. Kraft singles) is revolting.
