Yeah, I wouldn’t use that phrase. It’s racist.

Jesus Christ.

Just another cracker who doesn’t seem to care that Blacks were fed to alligators as “gator bait”. That’s where the phrase comes from.

“Cracker” sounds racist too. One seems accidental, the other seems intentional.

A white person who is ignorant of that term’s origin and the declines to apologize for using it … that’s poor character. We can do better. I have never used that term and didn’t know its racist origin. Thank you for educating me!

Conclusions based on race which is the pure definition of racist.
I’m confused, which word did you use? One is certainly racist (and intentional), the other seems to be (I trust your facts, as I never knew) but was accidental. Both are bad (if your assumptions are true), but the intentional use of a racist word is even worse. Words are just letter, but meanings and intent can be very harmful.

People who prattle on about anti-White racism are tiresome and have poor character. Sure, both are bad. Anti-Black racism is entrenched, endemic, and deadly. Trot your faux victimization wares to someone else. Signed, Middle Aged White Lady

So, to be clear, ma’am: it’s ok for you to use a racist word intentionally to call out another’s use of a racist word (assuming you are correct as I don’t know) unintentionally. Interesting times.

“Assuming you are correct as I don’t know”??? Educate yourself. Google is your friend. You have been given a heads up that it is a horrible thing to say. Is this still common refrain by students at UF in 2022? Embarrassing

YOU intentionally used a racist word when trying to call out racism.

Middle aged white lady here again. I am not the PP. Also not the person who used the offensive term (either one). I don’t think either term is ok. But I do think white people who try to play the victim on racism have poor character. Better just to listen and learn how we can be part of the solution.

How does any one know the color of anyones skin here? One poster said a term that was not intentional / used in non-offensive context by many others (although now knows it has historically racist undertones), while the other called out racism by calling the poster a racist name (which assumed their skin color). How do we know any of these posters are white? Because the second poster called the original poster a white racial slur. You, ma’am, you automatically jumping conclusions (especially if you were not either poster).

This is getting weird

It’s not weird. It’s just proving a point that being a so called top 5 State university doesn’t mean much when the differences are that great.

All the top companies recruit from UF for undergrad business. That's ultimately what matters.

FO MO or BO. There is a difference.

And there you have it, folks.

Those lucky students headed to UF from the mid-Atlantic can leave their winter coat at home. Go Gators!

It's a well rounded solid school.
I wish UF all the best.

By applying, your kids saw the merits in the school and considered attending. Smart kids.

UF is not a stong target school.
Probably good in the South East region.

I thought it was raining outside, why would you get wet if it’s dry under that bridge? No internet service in the forest?

I do find it comical the lengths some are going to disprove it is a T5. Or, likely just one bitter Bama fan. Is that you, Coach Saben?

My kid applied to number of business schools and also got accepted to UF Warrington.
Uf is a semi-safety for my kid.

So I know business shools, and jsut sharing the facts.
People need good information and that's the purpose of this forum.

UF is a well rounded solid school.
No doubt itls a good school.
You can be proud of your school but let's not get carried away.

UF is ranked Top 5. Acceptance notices went out yesterday and this thread is asking who got accepted. Some people on here seem really bitter and jealous. The fact that they are complaining on this thread just proves how relevant UF is becoming.
Anonymous
Over 65,000 kids considered it as contender, with only 15,000 getting accepted to 6,000 seats, UF is doing something right. And with 16% of students out of state in last years freshman class, it’s a tough entrance. And the fact it’s made itself into the top 28 of 3,200 public and private schools and top 5 of 1,600 public schools is impressive. Way to go Gator Class of 2026!

Such a silly argument here, not really worth defending
