It was just so weird and ott.

To the contrary, that scene, plus then seeing him at the auction the next day, was one of the few in the reboot that took me back to the original show. I liked it.

So how much time has passed since the first episode with Big’s death? It feels like they’ve skipped ahead multiple months every episode since.

And did Miranda’s drinking problem just disappear?

Yeah the opening scene of the seasons changed was meant to convey that at least 6 months passed.

I was wondering the same thing about her drinking problem.

This is turning into a hate-watch. Charlotte's faux-feminism temper tantrum - yelling at Harry and refusing to apologize for tripping him accidentally during tennis was just plain mean. Gimmee a break Charlotte about your sanctimonious faux feminism. This writing is terrible. The acting was terrible.

Then you probably shouldn’t bother watching, because a lot of the target demographic
is those (older ladies), and plenty do want to see these kinds of storylines instead of pretending their lives ended at 38.

+1

I mean seriously, did you hate watchers think this was going to be a Golden Girls reboot? I mean even Blanche was trying to get laid on the regular.

All of them were trying to get laid on the regular!

They sure effing were

I have to say, I have really wearied of the ageism on this board. Guess what kids, if you're lucky enough you'll get older too one day and hopefully life will still be interesting and worthy of examination.

and why would charlotte rope her friends into attending a school action, their friendships now seem weird and too codependent. the guy playing steve never should have agreed to be on the show, they are basically making him the deaf, doddrering senior citizen of the show.
Watching charlotte try to talk with those super inflated lips is never wracking.

David Eigenberg (Steve) is actually almost deaf in real life and that’s why his character is almost deaf!

Fine but IRL people who need hearing aids later in life do NOT scream and seem befuddled all the time. At least not after they get the hearing aids! It's a very ugly and unfair portrayal of disability TBH. I think they're depicting Steve like this in order to legitimize Miranda's cheating.

Yeah, I am PP who posted about Charlotte. I hate the way they are portraying Steve. Another reason this is turning into a hate watch.

I'm confused by the timeline. The opening with seasons passing made it seem like a year, but Miranda said Che didn't respond to her text from three months ago.

He finally seemed like himself in the kitchen. He was adorable, I totally would have jumped him. Miranda has lost her mind.

I posted on this thread at the beginning of the new series complaining about Big's death and the stupidity of the scene where she doesn't call an ambulance. Those first 2 episodes were pretty awful. But now, honestly, I'm really enjoying it. It has the same feel it always had - cringey moments, funny moments, real moments. They are 15 years older than me - in the original I loved seeing the cool lives they led in NYC and now I love seeing middle aged women facing different and interesting life challenges. I hope there's another series!

+1. I liked that scene, too. Reminded me of the original SATC.

I think showing them totally plastered and wandering off to different Ubers would have been funnier. Vomiting not necessary and not funny imo.

I love him in Chicago Fire. His character is like Steve, but more “manly.”

I really loved Carrie's flowy, pastel multi-colored coat in this episode when she was walking outside with Miranda. Lovely!

It was supposed to be lunch with a writer.

I think Che is Miranda's new addiction

You can drink too much without having the disease of alcoholism. I think they plainly showed that Miranda was able to quit cold turkey once she realized she was using it to avoid her unhappiness.
