How long will the shutdown last?

I think it's really telling that according to Lindsey Graham, the Democratic major priority is disaster relief - actually helping Americans going through major challenges, and the Republican priority is building an f;ing wall that won't make anyone's life better, and will in fact waste money and steal land from Americans.

Trump has said he'd approve both as a package. Throw in DACA as well.

Why won't Pelosi take yes for an answer?

Just now. On Twitter.

Feds missed their second paycheck today, BTW.

Called a ground stop. Happens several times a week at LGA. Delays at La Guardia are hardly news....or related to some work action.

The ground stop at LaGuardia (lifted now) was due to staffing shortages, not weather.

That doesn't happen all the time.

Don't deny reality. It's not a good look.

He knows Pelosi isn't caving on it. All he has to do is put a bill to vote that opens the government and he would get a veto proof majority. When he finally decides that rebuking the president in a veto proof majority if it opens the government matters more than coddling the president, the government will open. Until then, yes, he's the one holding the blame.

McConnell can end this immediately. He's the one with all the power now, which means it's his shut down.

Not really, no way he can get 67 votes.

And oh yeah, they voted on the Dem bill yesterday, went down in flames.

Sure. McConnell picked the 2 week CR, the stupid one. End of February or end of September would pass. Today.

Reality is I'm a pilot and sit in those holds a lot. At least I get paid for it though....

Agreed, the stupid one. The one Pelosi and Schumer gave him.

Holds for staffing shortages at ZDC?

I've never seen that before. But I'm not a pilot.

More than half the recalled IRS workers either didn’t show up or got hardship exemptions to excuse them from reporting.

Pelosi already slapped the "down-payment for a wall" immediately after Trump brain farted it. Why - because it's no different from just asking for 5.7 B for the wall, and demanding that before he agrees to re-open government. For the 1000th time - The Dem's position is if you give in to Trump on this he will hold the government hostage/shut it down the next time he wants more money for the wall, or anything else. It's no way to legislate. Unless you want multiple shutdowns over the next two years.

The same bill the House passed, had passed the senate by vice vote - ie unanimous.

And talk about going down in flames, the GOP bill in the Senate was much "hotter" than the Dem bill. So fail.

There was news 2 days or so back that many people who are used to refunds would be shocked to find out that this year they would not get the refund...May be this is part of the plan to delay the shock!

They are when the FAA says they are related to an increase in sick calls at Jacksonville and DC ATC.

Also, 14,000 IRS employees did not show up for work today. Tax filing season starts Monday.

And yet, it got a majority of votes, despite Dems being the minority in Congress. In fact, more votes for the clean bill than POTUS’s plans.
