That’s called reality. DMV particularly any team in the IAC is mediocre at best. Legends only in the beltway bubble.

Mediocre is a hilarious take.

The weak will always complain of reclassing which exists in the DMV and PGs.

And mediocre parents of mediocre kids will call failing a grade “reclassing” to rationalize that their son needs to play against younger kids to stand out athletically or academically.

Isn’t PVI very Senior heavy this year? I think they may fall off a cliff next year.

PVI and GC will fall. Even GP and for sure Bullis.

Bullis vs Landon will be a great game on Friday!

PVI will fall the most next year. GC and Bullis will fall off gradually, completely done in 2 years. Landon, Prep and SJC will be ok, they have balanced classes.

If they play like this, they will run through the IAC

Lol. That doesn’t say much in terms of true talent. The IAC is a weak, inbred league.

What does this even mean? an "inbred league."

With a response like that you may want to check your family tree

Top Ten

1. Paul VI. Will take a massive upset in the next 4 to slip

2. Bullis. Solid #2

3. Georgetown Prep. Never really in doubt

4. Landon. Pretender or Contender on Friday

5. St. John’s. Tried very hard to lose

6. Good Counsel. Thumped in the 2nd half

7. Gonzaga - Comeback falls short, stays where they are until GC

8. St. Albans - Needs the win vs Ep on Friday

9. Urbana - Blows out another public

10. Heights - Squeezes past STMR by one

If Bullis ends up #1 make Urbana #2. SOS doesn't matter. Only loss was vs Bullis where backups got to play. Plus, they really gave it to #1,373 Oakdale. Nobody can compare to Urbana, literally, because nobody else plays that weak a schedule.
Why not add STAB since they actually played multiple teams on this list. They'd slot in at 3. Prep bumps down to 6 and Urbana never belonged near top 10 anyway.

Prep has played the hardest SOS out of the IAC / WCAC schedules

And sorry we aren’t including STAB in the DMV, they are located 100 plus miles away from DC!

Nice rationalization and I hope it makes you feel more secure. First there are plenty of reclasses in the DMV. I know it’s hard to cop to but delusion is the mainstay of DMV lacrosse. Second, the schools in the Northeast like Choate, and Lawrenceville are far from lightweights academically even for a reclass. Dropping down a grade doesn’t turn you into a genius. Third, your superstars, super athletic, on-age kid will have to compete against those dummies. Looking at both ranking lists your kid won’t hang against them.

If your kid needs it to compete and play in college he needs it. You got to do what you got to do.

They will next time.

Neutral party, attended game. SJC was not clearly superior, except for stretch in the 3rd. GZ looked plenty capable, though the offense needs to step up. Maybe they'd benefit from fewer set plays and just working the 2-man or simply pushing the ball in unsettled situations. SJC got the calls against them they deserved so blaming a close one on the ref is nonsense.
SJC practically disintegrated in the last couple of minutes while GZ had momentum (man up or not). Ultimately, GZ made a bad shooting decision in the last seconds of the game.

This was close throughout (again, except for a few min in the 3rd). In a rematch, this is a coin flip.

I’d be fine with adding STAB for the reason cited (they regularly play a lot of DMV teams) but you’d also have to at least consider some of the Baltimore metro teams that do the same and if you do that you’d likely have only 5 dmv teams in the top ten. This year anyway.

Anyone have a complete list of players from the WCAC/IAC that have played professional lacrosse? I asked Chat but it's not close to be accurate.

St. Chris' plays too, is Richmond part of DC? It's dcum.com, not midatlanticum.com. Those teams are regularly used as comparison games to rank teams in an anonymous and overly snarky forum.

+100.

Worth noting that area rec programs are all folding up shop as lacrosse is morphing into a "club bro" sport marketed towards families who can strike checks $8K a year even at the elementary years. You are seeing fewer athletes (i.e. football players) pick up the stick for the first time due to the perception of the sport and financial barriers. Just look at how poor the quality of play is now in the public schools. JV teams are nearly non-existent for several Fairfax and MoCo schools; this was not the case a decade ago.

Lacrosse is no longer growing in the DMV; it hit a plateau during COVID.

Agreed with this, but it is growing outside DC. It's expensive because it's worth it to get away from the riff raff that plagues rec sports now.

Given the crazy amount of D1 talent SJC has (likely ~25 from class of 2026-2028) and its below expectation results, it shows 1) the coach is good at recruiting kids 2) he cannot coach a talented team 3) college recruiting is mostly club (underperforming HS team doesn't help you recruit).

Right. If there are mostly Rivians, Range Rovers and G wagons in the parking lot before the games, it’s not riff raff. If this was a parody effort, well done.
