2026 Private School Boys Lacrosse Commentary, Scores, and Updates

After yesterday's results, I really have no clue how to rank the top 5 in the DMV.

At times, SJC looked impressive yesterday but they tend tbe their own worst enemy with the amount of mental mistakes/penalities they commit.

GP looked pretty average in the first half vs GC but looked like a totally different team after halftime when they poured it on.

Landon vs Bullis on Friday should be another excellent contest.

If they play like this, they will run through the IAC

Lol. That doesn’t say much in terms of true talent. The IAC is a weak, inbred league.

Agree totally and an added respect for scrap from Gonzaga. That said I do think PVI has been the most consistent against tough competition locally and beyond. Playoffs will be fun to watch, including even the VISAA playoffs if the finals end up being a PVI/STAB repeat. What’s not to like about parity and good lacrosse?

That’s called reality. DMV particularly any team in the IAC is mediocre at best. Legends only in the beltway bubble.

Mediocre is a hilarious take.

Look north of Delaware for real lacrosse. The weak will always complain of reclassing which exists in the DMV and PGs. That doesn’t square with the higher quality club teams. Look at both rankings and count how many DMV teams are in the top 25. You only need half of a hand for that.

Talent is pretty spread out among seven teams right now. If PVI and GC continue to field good teams it’s less likely that you will see multiple DMV teams in the top 25. A lot of the top PVI and GC players would have found their way to Gonzaga, Landon, and GP in the past. 15 years ago almost all talent was concentrated in those three schools and then Bullis and SJC emerged over the last decade as consistent programs.

I don’t disagree with you that the better teams are up north. And the 2026 DMV club teams are ranked relatively low. But in the 2027 club rankings, the DC area has the #5 and #7 teams in Madlax and Next Level. DCE is at #27. 2028’s are at #10, #14 and #22.

+100.

Worth noting that area rec programs are all folding up shop as lacrosse is morphing into a "club bro" sport marketed towards families who can strike checks $8K a year even at the elementary years. You are seeing fewer athletes (i.e. football players) pick up the stick for the first time due to the perception of the sport and financial barriers. Just look at how poor the quality of play is now in the public schools. JV teams are nearly non-existent for several Fairfax and MoCo schools; this was not the case a decade ago.

Lacrosse is no longer growing in the DMV; it hit a plateau during COVID.

What does this even mean? an "inbred league."

They will next time.

Why is "reffing" an issue with WCAC games?

Isn’t PVI very Senior heavy this year? I think they may fall off a cliff next year.

PVI and GC will fall. Even GP and for sure Bullis.

Bullis vs Landon will be a great game on Friday!

PVI is senior-heavy but they have something going on in Loudoun.

They will drop off next year, but it won't be nearly as bad as DM did this year - holy smokes.

Dane Smith is a great recruiter for GC, they graduate some very talented pieces but I'm sure he will find some transfers and has a decent class coming in. I do believe GC will remain a top 4 team in the WCAC moving forward.

Definitely the wrong forum to complain about that - very accurate - dynamic. These people are the ones who rigged it!

familiar with some of the SJC parents on this team across lax and other sports, and they complain about the refs constantly. It’s insane. Win or lose, makes you want to shove a whistle down their throats and send them out on the field. Insufferable. They are the most delusional type of sports parents.

Wow, somebody is pretty upset about the game yesterday. It’s going to be ok.
