Trying to bring this thread full circle. sounds like the general consensus is:
1. This club is mid-range in terms of competitiveness and talent
2. It has all the problems that most area clubs have (pay to play, favoritism, toxic culture, no accountability etc)
3. It also has some uncommon problems (lecherous leadership, failing administration, lack of quality coaches, etc)
4. Their business model brings out some very strong feelings and appears to be faltering (condition of greatest asset is going down)
5. Supporters of the club are happy with the pay to play model

In summary, this club is for parents who want to pay money for their child to be involved with soccer. This is not a club for parents who are looking for opportunities for their child in soccer.

If it only happened once then I would agree with you BUT it was many that were made public and I’m sure many more affairs that no one was aware of. That guy is the worst of the worst and for ANY club to hire him is malfeasance. Coppermine should be very concerned!

Just guessing though- Syc lost a champions cup point. NVA gains one. Are they now tied for second? Rev is one bit closer?

CISC has Champs cup locked up for next year with 23 points currently. The current battle for the 2nd team to qualify is as follows...
NVA - 14 pts
SYC - 13 pts
VRSC - 12 pts

VRSC vs SYC has an upcoming fixture in a couple of weeks that will play a part. I believe U16 won't matter because they are locked in their positions. U17 VRSC is heavy favorites to win. U15 and U18 could be close. U13 SYC is likely to beat Rev again, and U14 is up in the air.

U13 and U14 Rev, NVA, SYC all play each other at least once in conference before the league year ends.

the problem is at U13 VRSC had some recent exit of players. So they are done. (Tying Horrible Mclean says it all) SYC will beat them again. And it’s very unlikely VRSC can beat NVA. I suspect SYC will beat or tie NVA. So SYC are odds favs for 2nd in cup. U14s VRSC is stuck in 5th.

Time for new TD for girls. This TD has failed.

Next season’s U19s will carry this club. Exiting talent in the younger age groups…no way Rev sniffs Champions Cup ever again.

You are a pipe dreamer. The girls who committed will end up not playing to prevent precious from getting injuries. Oh wait, almost all the commits are already injured. Add in very bad coaching decisions and deeply pay to play parents who can’t stand to see precious not playing d3. Just threaten to leave and become a starter.

Just tells you how bad Mid Atlantic South is. NVA would have no chance at Champions Cup if it wasn't for the leftover U19 ECNL players this year and they still dominated. NVA is losing it's star U17 player next season to NVA and the players coming back from Union showed they aren't game changing. The two top players went to VDA this past season anyway.

Nobody cares about U19. Seniors aren't going to bother with California playoffs anyway if they are going to play in college. It's always been this way no matter the league. Next year will even be worse with the group change.

As for next year VRSC U19s, they will still finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Competition is too weak. NVA will be better but will be somewhere in the same conversation as VRSC. CISC will have the same issues you mentioned as VRSC.

Agree on bad coaching decisions, disagree on "pay to play" parents. Disagree on threats. You put too much stock in to unimportant showcase events. The real problem is the roster of 30+ players with the GFR imports and age realignment. At the same time, the 08s started with 24 players, lost players to injury, quitting, and leaving early for college. If it wasn't for GFR imports they would have been down to 15 players.

Other age groups are fine. It's the younger age groups around the league that lose players to ECNL. Happens to everyone.

D3 has only a few good divisions...with mostly GA and ECNL players. Outside of that, any player in GA can get a roster spot on lower D3 teams. Not sure how much playing time they get but lower level D3 teams are mostly made up of RL, GA, GA Aspire and USYS players. Most players can find a home if they really want to play soccer in college. It's not hard for GA players to do.

The U.S. youth system is built on pay‑to‑play, especially in wealthy areas like NOVA. The corruption isn’t obvious it’s behind closed doors.

Private lessons with team coaches become the backdoor where money buys access, influence, and playing time. Families who pay get ahead; those who don’t fall behind.

Europe avoids this because training is free or cheap. Clubs invest long‑term: develop talent, sell players, reinvest. Merit drives opportunity.

In the U.S., clubs profit from fees, not player development. Coaches rely on side income. The system prioritizes paying customers over actual talent.

So when Rev suddenly is hiring just old “St. James FCV “coaches” right after they loose GA. Is it about quality, or about keeping the pay‑for‑access culture alive? Buying in just means more money for the same people.

Clubs in Europe do not "invest long term" for anyone but THE BEST. There are more stories about kids 9, 10, 11, 12, and up, going to trials, not getting accepted or getting accepted then dismissed a few months later. Then the kid hopes to eventually catch on somewhere else.

This myth about the idyllic "European model" is not as grand as some would make it out to be. Does it work for some kids. Yes. Maybe 95% of kids it doesn't. They maybe can play free/inexpensive local level soccer but kids can do that here too. It's called "rec". No shame in it if local, and inexpensive is what you want.

If you are uniformed, better to stay quiet. There are both “rec” and academies. Players have been identified through both.

Kids join academies from a young age, and once they’re in, the club handles everything: living, food, schooling, medical care, and daily training. It’s a full-time setup built to produce pros.

But the whole thing is fiercely competitive. Every year the standards go up, and only the best are kept on. Coaches constantly want the strongest prospects, so the group gets smaller as they move through the age groups. Some lads drop out, some get released, some get injured, that’s just how it goes. Only a tiny number ever reach the top level.

Most end up in lower leagues, at other clubs, or move into coaching. It’s merit-based, but luck still plays a part, and the standout talents usually rise through the system more smoothly.
Only 1% to 5%…make it… BIG INVESTMENT IN A POOL OF KIDS…. That leads to people like Ronaldo or Messi that generate millions and millions and millions of dollars… club recoup cost abd make huge returns. The system is merit based, clubs want the best by default. It limits pay to play.

Thats also another problem of US soccer parents think they know everything when they don’t specially on the sidelines.

Thanks for euro-splaining it for us. Did it ever occur to you that some of us, many of us, don’t care about solving US soccer problems or how soccer works outside the US. Soccer is simply another activity for our kids and pay to play is exactly how we want it, which is why the system works the way it does. This is what we want.

Is it not clear that CC backstabbed NE?The colors did not change from Gold White/Black to Blue/Light Blue White.One club merged into the other one. NE hands him some of the keys and CC starts putting his name on everything GA, all GA team.MLS Next, Academy Select, Pro team, woman pro team, even RSA the school!!!??!?? What are his qualifications as head of the school? Is he an educator as well???

Cc is coach catastrophe. His decisions blew up fcv and then he had to get VRSC into ga to offer anything to the players that were left. Now he brings in a big lot of great falls players that are terrible. As a coach from another club, I find it laughable. He plays them most of the game and lets the parents threaten him for playing time. I verified this is true with several parents I know.

If you leave during a showcase, this is not cause for more playing time. It’s cause for packing your bags. Get a backbone. You undermined the entire team by doing this, destroying the players chemistry, motivation and energy.

Do you want to know why your team loses to lower level teams, look at your own decisions and actual hold yourself accountable. Stop making excuses.

Don’t forget, ga came first and later…about year merged with mlsnext. Now the boys teams get all the focus and cc catastrophe puts his head in the sand.



Btw, where has the college recruiter position been for the past six months. There were 1-2 emails and crickets. What a failure. This is the future of your high performing athlete because they are so dumb, they can’t do anything else.

Good assessment. The actual quality of the services they provide are worsening.
Hence, team results and performances have started to suffer.

It’s a stretch to say this is a moral or ethical problem for a private business. A big waste of money investing more money in training a coach that is an absolute disaster is a better description.

These are coaches that pick one or two players, kiss the parents ah and tell them how good their dd is and try to ride that to some wins.

Absolutely no development for ten years. Just ask the player who still only plays with right foot. The best players eventually look for brighter pastures.

Just because one parent coach has a kid who goes d1 doesn’t make the parent a good coach. Someday you will figure that out.

There is a lot of frustration with the situation both ways. Some are happy, some are not. Everyone has their own experiences.

It does seem like there is lack of empathy that runs fall circles at Revolution. Not all but some coaches, some directors, some staff and some parents. Some can’t look past their child, friend, player, money, self-interest, and ego etc…
