Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 4

The media is really being crucified in this whole sordid scandal. They are so desperate to publish damning stories about Kavanaugh that much of what they print or air is either totally wrong or totally stupid (threw ice?).

It makes the idea that the MSM is #FakeNews even more apparent.

Letter Signed by Nearly 400 Law Professors Decries Kavanaugh's 'Lack of Judicial Temperament'

Brett Kavanaugh’s fiery appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee last week got failing marks from more than 560 law professors at nearly 100 schools in an open letter saying the Supreme Court nominee failed to demonstrate the judicial temperament required by the position he seeks.

“We regret that we feel compelled to write to you to provide our views that at the Senate hearings on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, the Honorable Brett Kavanaugh displayed a lack of judicial temperament that would be disqualifying for any court, and certainly for elevation to the highest court of this land,” the letter reads.

Martha Minow, who was dean of Harvard Law School while Judge Kavanaugh taught there, is among the prominent signatories, along with such scholars as Mark Lemley of Stanford Law School, Judith Resnik of Yale Law School and Michael Dorf of Cornell Law School, who like Judge Kavanaugh once clerked for Justice Anthony Kennedy.

“We have differing views about the other qualifications of Judge Kavanaugh. But we are united, as professors of law and scholars of judicial institutions, in believing that Judge Kavanaugh did not display the impartiality and judicial temperament requisite to sit on the highest court of our land,” the letter reads.

“It organically came together, the result of a surge of law professors remarking on Judge Kavanaugh's lack of judicial temperament at the hearings,” said one of the signers, Prof. Bernard Harcourt of Columbia Law School. The letter remains open for additional signatures through Thursday.

Thank you! This was my point all along. His behavior Thursday was appalling and should be disqualifying, no matter your opinion on the sexual allegations.

This is the view of my parents' old super republican friends. They were shocked by his behavior and think he should not be on the SC.

Three former Kavanaugh clerks have sent letter clarifying that they are "deeply troubled" by the allegations and support an FBI investigation.

If you think the FBI couldn't tell that the was lying his ass off in the hearing, then you must have a really low opinion of the FBI.

Is it possible that Dr. Ford is a super amazing liar? I guess but it is unlikely. I mean, did she do a lot of theater in college?

Well, with her knowledge about the hippocampus, she could probably make a man black out from drinking milk.

And, this could easily mean that they are concerned that the false allegations have gone as far as they have.... an investigation that would include Dr. Ford and the others.

Yep

Trump and all of his supporters are disgusting POSs.

Simply repulsive in every way possible.

Trumps words tonight severely undermind the republican strategy of believing her. In fact, it totally shatters the whole 'let's bring a female prosecutor in so we don't have bad optics"

Unless the GOP is going to strongly rebuke Trump's words, the backlash will not be pretty.

Maybe they don’t believe her anymore. Are they required to believe her in spite of all of the holes that have emerged?

They don't have to believe her, but they should treat her with respect. Trump could have expressed his opinion without the mocking but thar would have been too boring.

Sorry, they just come off as kind of stupid. Do they really believe that anyone gives a shit about their support of the FBI investigation?

Dr. Ford has been very respectful.

Read the letter. They don't like the fact that their previous endorsements of Judge Kavanaugh are being used in a misleading way so it looks like they were responding to the current allegations.

Pretty ballsy on their part.

Ford's ex-boyfriend's letter is here:
https://twitter.com/ShannonBream/status/1047293294567456770

He says he was with her from 1992 to 1998 until she cheated on him so he broke up with her. He says that over the course of a year after they broke up, she'd run up $600 on a credit card that he says that he took her name off of.

He says that she explained to a friend how polygraphs worked when the friend was going to take one for a background check and helped the friend be less nervous when she took one.

He also says she never told him about a sexual assault, a fear of flying, or a discomfort around enclosed spaces.

It's a data point, for sure. Still, I think she's credible. Upending your life and completely fabricating a story to get a free polygraph test seems like a stretch.

This is what I want to know - where did the letter come from? It just appeared in the NYT with no source? Who on earth held on to it??
