I won’t teach you about proportions, so, agree to disagree. |
**sounds to me like the rockshire/fallsmead community has spoken. I read it as the point is that is NOT the voice of the cluster but like the other poster, this again proves the point. |
I have no idea what you’re asking so I’ll take a few minutes to explain. Sigh. Let’s pretend the entire cluster is 100 families. Then if 30% of those families who live within the walk zone (that’s 30 families) attended one meeting. And let’s say another 8% from north Potomac also attended that meeting (that’s 8 families). Keep in mind this was advertised as an “anti-H meeting” so attendance from north Potomac was significantly less. If the majority range from against it to hate it, that would make sense coming from 100% of the 30% coming from the walk zone. If the remaining 8% are neutral, didn’t leave a note, or had a few that also are anti-H that would give the PERCEPTION that the community has spoken. But your data pool is heavily biased from the start. Now do you get it? (I feel I need to note for you that these are not real numbers but generalities to make a point). |
I was also there. Were you the woman in red screaming at the front? If not, what is your take on that? Didn’t happen? Because THAT was crazy. |
Everyone was invited to attended the Wootton town hall. What’s your suggestion, do you want to dispatch people door to door and do a poll? Dufief was there at the meeting btw. |
…you mean recreate the boundary survey? I’m a stone mill parent but I know some of Dufief was there. That’s probably the 8 families 🤣 |
I am a stone mill parent but it sounds like we need the proportions guy to chime in. “If most of the people I know in stone mill and travilah want Wootton to stay, and I know 10% of all the families, does that a majority make?” |
| To remind everyone of something that should be obvious: It does not matter whether you are in the walk zone or North Potomac; a decent part of your property value is due to the fact that you are zoned for Wootton. If Wootton goes away that school premium goes away. I realize this will delight the trolls but this comes as part of the package. |
We apparently are not allowed to talk about this or care about this. |
Except it actually doesn’t go away if you keep the feeder schools together, even at crown. You won’t lose your rep by adding an additional 1-2 elementary schools, even if they aren’t filled with the same baby Einstein as the current Wootton elementary schools… |
Non wootton here but I know that is a concern including us in decaying school zones impacting our values, too. It’s a shame it has come to this. Meanwhile, I just want to meet the guy that knows everyone at travilah and stone mill. Maybe knows someone at dufief or Lakewood, too? Sounds like a popular guy to be able to speak for all! |
Your property value will not change because of the schools. Really, there are homes for 800K, that is pretty typical in most neighborhoods, even ones you consider the ghetto. |
Do you really think your property value is solely tied to the schools? NO, just your ego is. |
Are you serious? Are you implying that you will pay the same price for the same house no matter what school? give me a break. |
With the exception of the houses that are a really close walk to the current location, homebuyers aren't going to care if a school changes its address and has a fairly small boundary change. All of this "Oh no it won't be Wootton anymore!!!"stuff is ridiculous. |
