Good f maga. They want the progressive era reforms rolled good. I am sick and tired of paying for rural hospitals, ACA subsidies, paying for roads, building infrastructure, high speed internet, etc for rural areas. The democrats need a plan to depopulate and destroy these rural areas. |

let them expire! let people feel the pain of what they voted for. |

Seriously, where is the off ramp here? At this point, the CR the republicans want voted for only goes til 11/21 anyway.
They need to get the government open. So many people missing paychecks, so many services not filled or at risk. I’m so frustrated. |
I personally think the democrats should sign the 7 week CR at the end of the month to bring back on Monday 11/3. Americans on ACA will receive their increase notices on/about 11/1. That hike will create enough outrage. Dems can say the GOP agreed to negotiate ACA subsidies in the full year bill. Let Feds get back pay and another 2 checks before a thanksgiving. Returning 11/3 gives everyone 3 weeks to negotiate a deal. If the GOP refuse to extend subsidies (with added pressure from constituents) in the next CR of full year bill, then shut it down again. |
the house has basically not been in session since July, meaning they haven't been working on an actual budget bill at all. |
I know! This is the only “off ramp” I can think of. Otherwise how long does shutdown go—until January. It’s not fair to punish 750,000+ federal workers. Congress can pass a full year CR (likely) and tuck an extension provision in there. |
They cannot shut it down again, because regular budget bills cannot be filibustered. Perhaps Republicans would have to wait until next year for this. |
Committees have been meeting. Plus the House leader usually just presents his own bill real quick. |
