Gizelle has money. Her ex-husband is a well-known mega church pastor in Baltimore. So she has a nice spousal & child support, show money, make-up line money.

Ashley's nasty husband has money, so if you count Monique as having money, then Ashley gets the same favor.

I can’t figure out why Gizelle would buy a dumpy house and then put all that money into renovating it. Seems like it would be a lot more cost effective (and less stressful) to just buy a house that’s move-in ready.

Same with Robyn and that awful townhouse she’s sunk all that money and time into. Is it really worth it?

I think buying/renovating gives her a ready-made storyline for next year (and possibly the year after) that doesn't necessarily expose parts of her life she'd rather keep secret and paint her as a villain. She's now the face of a business so to the extent she can stay on TV without getting into catfights it's good for her brand. Look at what Candiace deciding to make herself interesting has turned into - she's a hot mess who keeps embarrassing herself.

I think it's smart TBH. If it goes well enough (though it doesn't seem to be going well for Robyn), either of them may be able to parlay it into a flipping show -- Bravo's getting into those waters.

I found the house in public record...she paid $935,000 for it. It's 1.35 acres so that's not bad. It's basically at Bradley and River but I won't post the address.

I doubt Gizelle has any real money. I stopped watching after the first or second season but her house was a rental.

Agree about Ashley. Although all the money in the world is not worth being married to that guy.

I think she is more than fine financially between BRAVO, personal appearances and her makeup line. She's definitely not broke!

I'm sure most of them have more money than I do, and I have four degrees and a full time career.

1.35 acres at Bradley and River at $900K is a craphole basically.

Didn’t you see the house on the show? It wasn’t inhabitable when she bought it. It’s a complete gut job.

That’s how all these housewives start off though. Then the show gets cancelled or they get demoted and they are just enough of a celebrity not to want to tighten their belt but not enough of one to have any real other opportunities.

That said...I don’t believe she’s currently broke. Would be curious as to how well the makeup line sells. Seems like a very crowded space.

The house she used to live in was a + $6,000 per month rental. Not cheap. Not sure where she moved to temporarily but the previous rental is available.

People are buying houses all over the DC Metro area and renovating them. Some people are paying a million dollars for houses, tearing them down and rebuilding a home to their liking. Go to the real estate forum of DC Urban mom. That's a hot topic about the many tear downs. It may not be for you, but it works for other people. I'm curious to see Gizelle's finish product.

Right, I know that. But we’re not talking about tear downs in this case. Both Gizelle and Robyn are *renovating* their respective dumps, not tearing them down and starting fresh. It looks like a long, messy, chaotic process. Just tear the damn thing down and start over.

An expensive rental in the suburbs + quasi celeb = liquidity problems.

Ok so? Did the cameraman get paid off? Did they settle? How was bravo sitting on all that footage but it got thrown out?

Generally the footage from “reality shows” is inadmissible because there is no way to guarantee that the footage wasn’t edited. This has been attempted in several court cases. I think generally the cast and staff have language in their contracts stating this.

I think Michael is weird. But I also think this was an attempt to get money - either from the production company, Bravo, or Michael. The camera man didn’t respond to the DA so the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence. The police also claim that the camera man’s supervisors didn’t respond to the DA. The supervisors claim that isn’t true because they testified at the restraining order hearing. I think money definitely changed hands.
