I can’t figure out why Gizelle would buy a dumpy house and then put all that money into renovating it.  Seems like it would be a lot more cost effective (and less stressful) to just buy a house that’s move-in ready.

People are buying houses all over the DC Metro area and renovating them. Some people are paying a million dollars for houses, tearing them down and rebuilding a home to their liking. Go to the real estate forum of DC Urban mom. That's a hot topic about the many tear downs. It may not be for you, but it works for other people. I'm curious to see Gizelle's finish product. [/quote]

Right, I know that.  But we’re not talking about tear downs in this case.  Both Gizelle and Robyn are *renovating* their respective dumps, not tearing them down and starting fresh.  It looks like a long, messy, chaotic process.  Just tear the damn thing down and start over.[/quote]
