I stand by my theory that Harris was the first Democratic candidate to fold out of the race because she was prepping for VP. |
Sorry but I wasn’t supporting Kamala just because she was black. She did not have a great track record as a prosecutor and came across as wishy washy with her evolving positions. Cheap takedowns at Biden during debate. Biden was not my first choice BTW. Of the AA candidates, Booker was better. Of the female candidates, Warren and Klobuchar were better (preferred Warren). Keisha Bottoms is amazing (my family is in Atlanta). Is she ready for VP after two years as mayor? I don’t know. We don’t have to rush these women. Let her cook a bit. I like Duckworth. But does she want it? |
+1. Not sure who is more appealing between Duckworth and Whitmer. I want the person with the broadest appeal. Never trumpers are going to vote no matter who he picks. Most blacks are never trumpers at this point. But the person needs to be experienced and able to manage the civil unrest that has been brewing for some time. |
...Among everything else. Of course. With a strong cabinet, even the least qualified will be light years above Trump. Not that he is an aspirational measure for any standard. |
Harris and Warren have the highest negatives, which is in part because they’re better known than other prospects. I do think Duckworth, Whitmer, and maybe Demings (with the NAACP endorsement of her time as police chief) bring the fewest negatives to the ticket. My guess is Joe will stick with the Do No Harm (or least harm) ethic. |
Demings or Bottoms.
I think it has to be a black woman, and both of them are exceptional. |
Michelle Obama would be a 10/10 VP choice. The rest of the field are just stat quo hacks who won't generate any excitement. Abrams is obnoxious. Michelle is smart, comforting and an Obama. Biden/Obama would win every state. |
Whitmer. |
Michelle has no experience governing anything, and has not expressed any interest in governing anything, either. As much as I would love to see Trump taken down by an Obama, it is highly unlikely that she will be the choice. |
Highly unlikely, but PP is right -- Biden/Obama would win in a massive landslide. |
Abrams is not being vetted. Not enough experience, too many negatives: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/502226-stacy-abrams-says-she-hasnt-heard-from-biden-campaign-about-vp-search |
I like both. They seem like people who get things done. Kamala is wishy washy.... I can't follow her thoughts or trust what she says today is what she will believe tomorrow. I like Stacy Abrams a lot after reading more about her. She is SMART. And I trust that she has what it takes to be VP and Pres. if necessary. That said, Demmings and Lance-Bottoms give me a feeling of confidence that they can shoulder a lot, kick butt when necessary, and know how to speak diplomatically about difficult issues. |
Here's a collected list of those people who are currently identified as having started the vetting process. For now, that is the short list:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2020/06/08/heres-who-joe-biden-is-considering-for-vice-president/#7895cdcb1c67 Duckworth Lujan Grisham Whitmer Demings Hassan Klobuchar Bottoms Warren Harris Rice Abrams The last two are only confirmed by a CNN analyst with no source other than having met with Biden. So, not sure where she gets that information from. |
Whitmer is not well-liked in Michigan outside of the Detroit area. If Biden picks her, he doesn't stand a chance in Michigan. |
Yep, the whole "ready my boat" thing with the husband |
