Any clubs my kids can play on where the coach does not scream at kids AND the parents are not insane?

Travel Soccer = Insane Parents. So just focus on finding a coach that doesn’t scream.

All clubs have such coaches.

For Marylanders, how are the 2008G coaches at Potomac? Are they screamers? For this age group, I believe Potomac has two teams and two coaches. Any information would be very beneficial.

DG is certainty a dinosaur. He hasn’t had any recent classes or license certifications. I think he is still stuck at a C license! His style of play and philosophy are outdated.

Don’t let phony USSF licenses skew your perceptions.

Loudoun has a bunch of A’s and B’s and look how shit they are.

Hell, they call an amazing weekend of ECNL when they get 1 win 2 draws and 9 losses with all their teams combined. It’s not that they’ve had to lower the standards due to their facade and empty shell. It’s that they’ve really got no standards at all. Except for keeping your money. That is one standard they can claim first position in.

The top 2008 team finished the fall at the 2nd from the bottom USYS EDP Division I. They had 5 goals for and 15 against. The coach might not be a yeller but only cares about two players. I personally know of two players leaving after the spring season. The second team is one of the least competitive in the state of Maryland. So, if you are in the market for a 2nd tier EDP team or bottom stage EDP, then Potomac is a good fit.

To answer the other parents question about Bethesda White which is now Bethesda ECNL II (Regional League), they are currently in between the Potomac 1st and 2nd team which isn't very good. Their coach is also yeller but female. The bright side of this team is since they are are affiliated with ECNL, they may draw in better players. They also will take-in the ECNL players that get moved down.

Metro United GA has a decent 2008 team but it is unknown how many 2009s will be moved back on age or leave the club. They probably have the most upside currently because the coach is well liked. Roster spots for above average players will likely be available moving into next fall. You can probably expect a middle of the group finish in the GA League.

None of these clubs however hold a candle to Bethesda ECNL, McLean ECNL, or FCV GA. Both Bethesda and FCV have very tough "Abusive" coaches. McLean coach is excellent and not abusive, however, players are taught to play physical to the point that they are dirty players. CW does push this philosophy.

I am guessing other top clubs are likely too far of a commute.

Pick your poison.

Thank you. This is very informative information.

Are the two players that left his two favorite players? I assume not as they are his favorite players.

Nobody has left Potomac team. Just parents that are pondering it. I don't know what the two favorites are doing. I think they play on the Metro United team as well.

Thank you. Not many options in MoCo except for FCGB & MRM. MSI is not a great option either. FCGB is a little pricy compared to others so we are thinking of MRM now since BSC sounds like they have such an abusive coach. I was told MRM might have a new 2008G team this upcoming Fall season.

That's funny, I've never heard of DG being a child abuser either even after more than 30 years of coaching two different sports. But I have heard all about the yelling.

Same thing, watched McLean many times and see the players play abnormally physical as compared to others. But I have never heard of CW telling kids to hurt others.

Now, read between the lines.

Sheeple— most of these teams are having open practices this winter and will continue into the spring. Just take your DD out to a practice and judge for yourselves! Why are you allowing your decisions to be made by anonymous axe-grinders on the internet?!
