NP. What are you talking about? |
I dislike her and am mixed race, a woman around her age, and way to the left of Meghan Markle. It’s weird to me that Democratic voters would like her elitism and entitlement and embracing an archaic system. |
That comedian is a gay man who lives in the Hollywood Hills and is friends with adjacent celebrities Markle tries to text to come on her awful show. He is not right wing or MAGA. Before cracking on Markle he was cracking on Elon, Trump, and Gavin Newsom. |
He is smart and sees clear through her bllshit. Tim Dillon has commended her for in fact being a fake as F grifter, and has the healthy approach of being amused by her inauthenticity. It’s not like there is any there, there. |
Yeah, it's fantastic how he makes fun of her talking about creating "home" while noting that she has an autistic husband who is not allowed to see his own family. Her perfectly captured what a crazy hypocrite she is with her perfect cherry tomatoes and frosting snd no friends or family! |
Autistic? No. |
+1. I have an autistic child and know many, many people with autism and he does not present as autistic at all. |
Don’t care about whether Harry is anything diagnosable. He was the apparent primary target of the “fkin grifters” comment from a podcast exec.
Can anyone think of an analogous pair who sought fame and created content based on nothing? The only comparison is Real Housewives cast members AFAIC. They have not achieved in anything - Markle was not a super success at acting or at influencing. Other 2010s internet stars converted their “envy me! Get ready with me! Yayyyh” content into sellable product in conjunction with their site (cupcakes and cashmere, that dope who married a Ticonderoga pencil heir). Or — they turned to reality tv to recapture fleeting but earned fame in film, in music, etc (TI and Tiny, the Baldwins). Meghan and Harry are different. They aren’t special because they kicked what made them special in the teeth and ran away. Their families don’t like them; they are out of cards to try and regain unwarranted, primogeniture based VIP status forever. It’s done. This is pure Kardashians level stuff from 2008 or so but even then, Kim had a stylist job. I’ve never watched one second of any Kardashian show but those freaks seem to understand adaptation and how to convert fame into money. I’m under the impression that Meghan and Harry each think they’re too good for taking a note on how to succeed, that they “serve” and “think” and “are good people.” Wrong, wrong, wrong. |
I've seen three full episodes and I thought it was fine. I actually agree with a lot of the criticism in the thread but none of it is bad enough to make the show unwatchable. The Mindy episode sucked but that was in large part because I didn't care about the food/crafts they did -- my kids are not toddlers and I don't throw kids parties like that anymore. I don't need tips on how to make a fruit rainbow platter. But I've already tried the one-pot pasta from episode 1 and it's great and will go into a weeknight rotation -- I love creamy pastas with lots of veggies and love that this is a way to do it without loading up on heavy cream. Also stealing the roasted tomatoes on the fine trick, throwing those in salads and to dress pasta, great idea. I also like date honey lemon cake from that ep and like how she decorated it and got some good tips for that kind of "naked" cake. And I loved the pretty in-depth demonstration of Korean fried chicken in the Roy Choi episode. Haven't made it yet but already making plans for it -- he really breaks down why the milk and beer brine works and why you need to parboil the chicken. I also think it could be an adaptable recipe with different sauces, and do a boneless version for kids. Every single thing he made looked amazing, I'm sold. Meghan is fine. She is a bit wooden and awkward, but not enough to distract from the good content. I actually liked her conversation with her makeup artist about how they met and working on The Tig together. She was more awkward in the Mindy and Roy Choi eps but those people are not her actual friends so that makes sense. What I don't get about this thread is why people are so angry and offended. This is extremely mild entertainment. It's not trying to be anything grande. It's a show on entertaining at home with accessible recipes and projects and a nice aesthetic. I neither love it nor hate it. I do plan to watch the rest of the episodes. It's a good thing to put on while I'm doing laundry, paying bills, prepping dinner, etc. If Meghan really annoyed me I would simply not watch it, but I can't imagine coming here to write all about it because nothing she is doing on the show is upsetting enough to invest that kind of energy in. Do you folks know what is happening politically right now? Channel this anger and righteousness into that, not whether Meghan was rude when she told Mindy Kaling to call her Sussex instead of Markle, omg who cares. |
Yes, I thought Kate was the one with the autistic younger son. |
You don’t see the distinction between people discussing a shock comic’s tossed off comment about an adult in the context of this joke of a show, and your personal, nasty, hammy attempt at slurring a kid under ten to get people mad and the thread shut down. Cool. |
Kardashians. Influencers and social media personalities. Obamas. Trumps and Kushners. Nicki and Paris Hilton. |
lol. The reviews in mainstream media including prestige publications like The Guardian has been more critical than most anything here, and Markle is called out as being offensively tone-deaf and inauthentic as a through line. Do each of those publications need to channel that anger and righteousness into other things, or can those authors, like people here, say what they like about this tire fire, and also keep up with real news? |
That's what he called Harry. He did not say why he thinks that. |
Wrong again. |
