Looks like someone is currently adding that to the system. Appears to be a bunch of players (initials for the minors) and parents. NOT FCPS, as initially reported.

It is FCPS go-to law firm. Who do you think is paying for it?

I'm sure a local news organization will find out if FCPS is behind this. Probably the only reason we haven't seen news articles yet is that no one knows anything for certain except the plaintiffs.

Yeah, would like the papers to say how many families are part of suit and if just the kids from Freedom that filed.

lol, I see what you did there and it’s rather ugly, but to be expected.

Don’t follow. Asking if just the Freedom families is a relevant as it goes to what the complaint could argue. It’s only the Freedom families that could claim defamation, not any of the already at Hayfield players. And now with that Fairfax Times posted actual filings, don’t need to speculate any more as clear what’s being argued and presented.

No, what you did was try and isolate the Freedom kids as if the actual Hayfield kids aren’t affected as much. Real condescending, but after reading a lot of these pages it’s evident, clearly evident

DP. Who are you wanting to support when you write “as if the ACTUAL Hayfield kids aren’t affected as much.” Reads like you are mad at the players that came from Freedom? Are you? A lot of them were just doing what their parents told them to do. Unfortunately this whole thing seems to be more about adult egos than kids.

From the Fairfax Times article - this is an excerpt from the 12 page letter written by Hayfield principal in defense of their residency checks:

"FCPS conducted “Residency checks” on Aug. 7 before the district appeal hearings. VHSL said, “The Findings and Recommendations of three reports were that bonafide address findings were either inconclusive or bonafide addresses was difficult to resolve because the student could stay at his mother's residence in Fairfax County as well as staying at his parent's address in Prince William County on any given day of the week.” Only one residency check of the four was confirmed.

Thompson dismissed the claim and said Hayfield officials conducted residency checks for 14 transfer students and completed them Aug. 26 “because of student vacations and trips during the summer break,” only putting them on the Master Eligibility List if they were confirmed."

Does anyone really believe that a supposedly superstar team filled with potential D1 recruits has any player that is allowed to or otherwise schedules vacations in August during the pre-season and around the first games of the season?!?!?!?

If you're going to lie, at least make it semi-plausible.

Agree that an attorney wrote the principal's letter and Cafferky charges $900 an hour.

However the Hayfield Varsity roster lists 21 Senior players.

Why are the plaintiffs only concerned about 14 of those 21 seniors?

FCPS argued that there is a right for seniors to play to showcase their abilities and that injunctive relief is a proper remedy? Take note parents, when Jimmy gets benched, FCPS has given you precedent to sue.

Bold this and file away for next year!

I don’t see that fcps is suing. Just families. I sure hope someone speaks at the board meeting tonight. It’s shameful that FCPS support led hayfield after vhsl made its finding of wrongdoing.

What is it? Are they so poor that they have to live 5 families to one apartment on a 6 month lease, but also so wealthy that they are taking vacations all summer and couldn't possibly be found?

Ha, more like Gatehouse staff doesn't really work over the summer.

This is actually the reason.

If football is so important to you, why would SO many parents simply not show up for the meeting.

They didn't want to be questioned, is the implication from VHSL.

It’s a big deal now because I’m sure a lot of these posters may have family or children go to opposing schools, could be coaches,

There is a dad claiming he didn't transfer his kids for athletic reasons. He had a son who played at freedom HS for Overton and another son who played at a different public PWC HS.
Last April, he tranferred both sons from their respective, different high schools and enrolled them both at Hayfield. What an odd thing to do!

That statement right there is why FFX Times should never be trusted. The 2 kids are not brothers or related in any way, but I’m guessing they saw the same last name and decided to add some excitement to the story. Dangerous reporting resulting in dangerous rhetoric.

If the lawsuit goes forward, they're getting deposed

Not only are they so rich they can't be found, but they could plausibly be living in their other residence and that's why they can't be crammed 5 families to an apartment.

I too would find housing completely unaffordable if I tried to maintain two residences in northern Virginia.

Just work backwards from the date when football practice started.

Doesn't football start on Aug 1?
