So naive |
Asians don’t have access to college unless they pass a test. You should get an Asian friend do they can explain the education system in their country to you. Also read about the caste system. |
The goal is more clear rules, fairness, tranparency, and no racial discrimination. |
I believe most European system is similar. and pretty much everywhere. Caste is specific to India. Looks to me Whites who invented ALDC are more obsessed. |
I understand the ‘test’ that ‘Asians’ must pass in their respective countries in order to attend college, I have a few Indian friends and understand the caste system. However, the US has no need for this test and we have no caste system. As far as I know most don’t want to make the US more like ‘Asia’. We don’t need to teach to the test. I think the ‘Asians’ are the confused ones here. |
Nope. Asians understand the system. Hence they achieved higher scores in ECs. leadership, Art, Music, interviews, etc. You must be new to this. |
Yes, they are the confused ones. In even the recent past they’ve yelled when not admitted with a 1500+ SAT. However, they are beginning to understand what makes a good application to American selective colleges. I do think it’s important to understand Asian obsession with American education - and it is an obsession. Many do not have access to it in their country, and here, they cannot only access it, but especially succeed in STEM fields. And, there’s nothing like success to breed copycats. If America opened it’s doors to all the Asians who want to pursue higher education here they could fill most the seats. Just speaking facts. |
Do Asians care that Oxford is 70% white? |
So does this decision mean that Harvard's football team will soon be all Asian ? |
What Asians? Asian Americans? Why would they? British Asians? they probably care about Oxford. Their system seems clearer, more transparent, and fairer. |
Are you saying Blacks who play football are all dumb? |
No, absolutely not ! My post was an attempt to add a bit of levity to the thread. Intended to be humorous. |
I hope that colleges will look at each applicant as an individual and not judged by the color of their skin.
My mixed Asian kids are different than me. I was a first generation Asian immigrant. |
The goal is actually to send a message to ADOS that their renewed insistence on “reparations” will be met with strong resistance - in the courts, at the state level, and if necessary on the streets. We can have a society that at least aspires to be color blind or one that is constantly looking backwards and trying to “fix” past wrongs through racial preferences. The former is dynamic; the latter is a Maoist recipe for civil conflict. |
Credentialism is a very important thing in some countries |
