Chesterbrook is opening June 11th Dominion Hills is opening June 13th. Arlington Forest says its opening 'later in June.' Kent Gardens is planning to open, but I haven't seen a date. I have no idea what Poplar Heights is doing.

Haven't heard anything from most of these, not sure where this info is coming from

I can only speak for Overlee, which keeps its members informed. I assume others do too; do you think that the pp just came up with fictitious dates?

This is day 3 of being open for us. It could go more smoothly. Our slots don’t fill up immediately, but by the day of they are mostly full. Members have been very patient and appreciative. Each swimmer can sign up for one lane a day. Board members are on duty but it probably isn’t necessary. Board members are on duty for the first two weekends of a normal season anyhow.

I think those dates may have come from the NOVA Pools group

Poplar Heights just sent an email - it is opening for lap swim on June 1. Must sign up in advance, must be age 14+, etc. They are hoping to do more in Phase 2.

Rolling Valley opened Friday. No issues. Online reservations.

Orange Hunt Pool cites some information regarding Phase 2 in Northern Virginia that suggests only exercise at recreational swimming pools (during Phase 2). Can anyone confirm this? I don’t see anything online.

That’s what was cited by my pool (Newington Forest pool) when they closed for the year (instead of just waiting until Phase 2 to open with gatherings of 50) and if it turns out they just read the guidance wrong, I’m going to be so pissed.

Well, they didn't read the guidance wrong b/c there is no published guidance for Phase 2. They may or may not have read the tea leaves wrong. There is a rumor circulating that the people drafting the aquatics guidance think that it needs to be exercise only. I personally think this demonstrates their lack of understanding of what community pools are like. They seem to think that recreational swimming somehow means wall to wall people. I would encourage anyone who is concerned about this to write the Governor. https://www.governor.virginia.gov/constituent-services/communicating-with-the-governors-office/ as well as your state delegate and senator. https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/
'recreation' is allowed to happen at beaches. Restaurants are allowed to open to outdoor seating. Why on earth would pools not be allowed to open with capacity controls?

Yeah If we can go to church today INDOORS with a max of 200 people I don’t see why a pool can’t open in phase 2 for deck use and pool use.

We have got to move on. Our governor needs to realize what he’s doing. I realize covid is around but I have zero concern with my kids swimming for fun with siblings or friends and then sitting in a chair to dry off.

Yikes. I don’t think rolling valley got that impression. Our governor is stupid if he doesn’t realize what a community pool is like. They are all over Virginia and not just for exercise.

I agree 100%. I have written the governor and state delegates. Hopefully others have too. With his press conference scheduled for Tuesday I wouldn't be surprised if Phase 2 rules are about done now.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Honestly, I had to stop and think, "Did I write this?".

We go to Rolling Valley. Yes, it's open for lap swim and tennis. Any rules beyond Phase 1 right now is just a guess, but allowing up to 50 people would be good.

our pool announced you can lap swim 5x a week for 1 hr, but the kicker is that it is only available for those 18+ which is ridiculous and would mean half the lifeguards aren't even allowed to lap swim.

yes- that is sillly. I suspect that they will have lots of empty slots and will open it up to more ages.
