Orange Hunt Pool cites some information regarding Phase 2 in Northern Virginia that suggests only exercise at recreational swimming pools (during Phase 2). Can anyone confirm this? I don’t see anything online.
That’s what was cited by my pool (Newington Forest pool) when they closed for the year (instead of just waiting until Phase 2 to open with gatherings of 50) and if it turns out they just read the guidance wrong, I’m going to be so pissed.
Well, they didn't read the guidance wrong b/c there is no published guidance for Phase 2. They may or may not have read the tea leaves wrong. There is a rumor circulating that the people drafting the aquatics guidance think that it needs to be exercise only. I personally think this demonstrates their lack of understanding of what community pools are like. They seem to think that recreational swimming somehow means wall to wall people. I would encourage anyone who is concerned about this to write the Governor. https://www.governor.virginia.gov/constituent-services/communicating-with-the-governors-office/ as well as your state delegate and senator. https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/ 'recreation' is allowed to happen at beaches. Restaurants are allowed to open to outdoor seating. Why on earth would pools not be allowed to open with capacity controls?
