Coaches don’t need to take a pay cut. If you can’t afford the luxury of being on an elite soccer team because you don’t have the funds to do so then don’t waste your money save it and let the soccer world go.

If you are losing your job you shouldn’t even be thinking about putting your daughter on a travel soccer team. |
| Does anyone really think there will be soccer games being played this autumn? I think it’s much more likely that we’re looking at early 2021 as the first time any of these girls get back on a field, in time for the Virginia HS season. And that’s well after the ECNL mid-Atlantic season is over. |
Tryouts are going to be early fall. ECNL is a year long program and teams are full. Tryouts will be in early fall now. Save the bragging until then. |
LOL elite at 13-15 years old? No it’s middle school and high school soccer. I am so tired of the “water down” competition argument- need for elite teams. This is just for the parents. These kids change a lot from middle school to high school. There is too much emphasis put on winning at these ages. For what? A u15 ranking on a website? Have you looked at how many girls go on to play at an elite college program for these “elite” teams....not many. Most will never play college soccer. The folding of DA just limits the opportunities for girls going forward. Seriously I have seen so many “elite” u13/u14 players disappear by u16. I also have seen bench players at u12 or 2nd team girl who switch teams and really take off. Coaches who like this or that player even though the player is weak. This just puts more power into a hands of a few coaches, limits opportunities for girls and feed ego of the parents. Elite soccer is about the top 2-4 players on the team. That is all the coaches and club care about. You will learn this over the next year or so. Yes I have gone through this twice with two different kids. |
| I agree with this. What happens to these DA clubs? I also hate the nastiness this is promoting between ECNL families wanting to protect their turf and the DA people. |
|
There are plenty of DA kids who will not make ECNL teams becasue not all DA players are what they seem to be.
This is where the parents will start berating coaches and spreading bad rumors about clubs because their superstar kid doesn't make it. Chemistry on a team is vital to the success of a team, even if the DA kids are better, many coaches will not mess with the chemistry. |
Amen. Also stands to reason that of the DA players that might compete to get on an ECNL team, it might not be the ones those parents think -- per PP comment, there are a lot of "top" players who aren't top -- they are just favorites and do get better through being given the opportunity. Maybe fresh eyes benefits the ones who weren't given those chances, and don't have prima donna complexes but just want to be a solid part of a good team. |
FCV and Wash Spirit/MU placed 98-100% of their graduating kids in college soccer? Which "elite" option were you talking about where many don't go on to play in college? |
|
| Anyone know what the other girls Atlantic DA teams are planning for next year? Cedar Stars, Penn Fusion, Baltimore Armour, PA Classic? Anyone know? |
Lol on my DD team there is almost no chemistry currently. Top players can almost always fit in like a glove no matter where they go. |
In this area, DA doesn't equal "top" players for many of the teams due to dillusion. Some teams/some age groups.some players sure, but just because they are on a DA doesn't automatically mean they are elite (and same can be said for the ECNL teams). Too many "top" teams, so the consolidation is what this area desperately needed.... |
Take the top 6 players at FCV and plug them with any of the Top 6 players within the ECNL and you have one powerful team. Except at BRYC any team younger then that 03 team is awful! |
I agree with Spring. Universities are already talking about not having students return until 2021 and public school systems are prepearing for that as well. There is talk that a vaccine for health care workers and first responders might possibly be ready in the Fall, but they will not have one for the general population until 2021 (if things go as planned). If school remain closed, it's doubtful sports will continue. Even college sports (big $ generators) will not be happening this Fall. |
