Post-DA future - Girls

Hello. Can anyone explain what EDP is? I am not so well versed in the soccer. Will FCV and Arlington and Metro send their teams there. I am sure the teams want to keep everyone together if ECNL says no. Is EDP competitive?

ECNL is non-profit...here is ECNL Girls Non-Profit 2017 Tax Returns below.

EDP is FOR profit. Watch EDP begin to make BIG moves since they are incorporated. They have the money to do so...Always follow the money.

I think this is all a blessing in disguise in the long run. ECNL needed this to happen as they WERE probably taking the biggest hit being a private non-profit.

Best of luck to everyone moving forward!

ECNL should have accepted all/most of the DAs when they had the chance.

So FCV will announce today that they want to move their EX-DA teams into the EDP league to play other EX-DA teams that didn't get an ECNL bid (MD- NY teams of lesser quality).

Good luck.

Agree and good luck. After the local ECNL teams take the top several players from each ex-GDA team, EDP will be a good competitive league for the remaining girls on those ex-GDA teams.

I always new the rec leagues were going to make out in the whole deal.

Their 03 and 05 girl teams are excellent. And yes, ex-DA players will likely boost their rosters with talent.

Bottom quarter or 25 percent. That's all....but again...that's all you need.

Excellent?? Nope - I have the internet.

Who knows??? With FCV parents and social media remaining silent for the first time in years, whatever their solution is, it can't be good.

https://www.edpsoccer.com/edpleague

Look no one cares about keeping “the team” together. About 1/2 the ECNL rosters will change within a year of restarting soccer. The ex-DA teams roster will change about the same. It’s not about teams, it’s about the top players on the team. If the top ECNL teams just keep their same team, they will no longer be a top team. There is enough talent at the ex da clubs to change the power structure within ECNL. Specially if one ENCL in the area get the majority of kids. It will take two years to sort all this out.

They would have to tryout and hope the volunteer coach picks them.

The ECNL spots will go to the players the coach in that age group knows. This is a nightmare

There are plenty of DA players who some ECNL coaches don't know. Especially given geography -- e.g., BRYC may never have seen some of the FCV players, or not since they were U-little which is not relevant. If those players show up and immediately stand out, they'll get a chance even without prior knowledge, and could displace another different DA player that coach thought she/he wanted. the question is when and where do they show up.

Bottom line, let your kid know she will have to fight for her slot on the team she is currently at. Honestly! My kid is excited for the opportunity for some of the top players to shift to her team potentially. She has been playing against them for years and knows them very well. As she is very competitive she wants the most competitive team. Hopefully we will get some coming to our club.

Is she a starter? That’s what you have to ask yourself.

Again this is elite soccer, if your scared of someone better taking your child’s spot then it is possible that she isn’t that “elite” I don’t mean to come of like a jerk so sorry if I am, I just know that my kid wants to be with kids that push her so that she is ready for that next step, college. Do you think she will just be given a starting slot because she was loyal to her club that she’s currently on or that she was a starter at the club. Absolutely not, she needs to work for that spot. Bottom line is this, if she can’t fight for her slot now against kids around this area don’t even think about sending her to a D1 college, unfortunately she’ll never set foot on the field.

Parents are losing jobs, and Well fare is on the rise. Are coaches willing to take a cut in pay?

Coaches all over the country already have been let go or taken pay cuts....

Pretty sick that it sounds like you want that
