Soccer
| Bryc 08s are not good. |
| +1 |
| That’s kind of mean. They are just kids |
| Agreed. There are a few very good players on BRYC 2008. Unfortunately just a few. Not enough to carry a team |
I believe SYC were kicked out of NPL. DA coming soon?
|
| Their website says they are going back to CCL and adding EDP for older ages |
| I guess watch out for the new SYC 2008 girls team |
|
I am naive and oblivious, I guess, but I am totally surprised that there are both rankings and 12 pages of comments about what's the best team for 10 year olds. How depressing.
My kids play soccer, but I guess they don't play "that" kind of soccer. They have fun, though! |
I have a boy the same age and have found this ridiculous. Though I also have a 14-year old son and I have seen how at this age none of this matters. The ones most concerned with rankings usually don’t last. Kid loving the ball and having a blast with teammates means so much more for keeping them in the sport and succeeding down the road. It’s much too early to care that much about a teams little kid rankings. |
Yet you spend your spare time to be on a forum about soccer and read all *garbage* . So I guess a 10 year old kid who studied hard and is now the smartest kid in class in not allowed to have a feel good feeling because at this age it means nothing? What about a 57 year old who is the best at something but that shouldn't matter since they will die soon Im sure. Thanks for reading our 10 pages of ranking Im sure just cause you were always on the lower end of everything explains why you have a *care free* attitude if you want to call it but whats wrong with having a purpose or making it more fun by trying to be the best at whatever age? |
Because to do so makes you look like the tool who puts the Elementary School Honor Student bumper sticker on their car. |
They have spelling bees for kids But thats ridiculous too since whats the point right? |
Spelling bees is your analogy? So out of touch. 10-year old rankings mean absolutely nothing. You obviously never played soccer at a high level to understand this. When the hype started around Pulisic at 11/12/13/14, his own parents were the first to squash it. They repeatedly stated they have no idea how Christian would turn out and how he hadn't even gone through puberty. The parents played competitively and coached so they had seen this play out and know how unpredictable it is. They are a lot of the reason he has succeeded. They were never blowing smoke up this ass. He never was told or thought he was the best. He knew the landscape. Most people that have truly talented kids are not the ones constantly boasting or talking about little kiddie stats or stars. It's a marathon and a long developmental process. Parents like these are ruining the sport for the kids. It's about the parents' own inadequacies, not the kids. Fighting over little girls' 10/11-year old team standings---wow. Take a step back. When your kid is 18/19/20, come back and check in. I do read the boards to avoid Club environments and parents like this--though taken with a grain of salt as I realize most are solely to disparage others. Certain Clubs are known to perpetuate this behavior, however. It's not good for the kids and most of the players have douchey attitudes because they get it from home. Do your kids a favor now and don't tell them they are wonderful and how much better they are than their teammates and other teams at this age. They just might stick with it longer than middle school. |
Comparing Youth Soccer to Spelling Bees is about the attention that kids get nationally regarding that particular competition and demonstrates an example of high competitive pressure being placed on kids at a young age. Some little gotsoccer ranking is pretty benign in comparison and is also about a team and not a player. An addendum to Godwin's Law should be made for online youth soccer discussions that as the discussion grows the probability of Pulisic being cited as an example of what every parent should do with their kid will be discussed. |
About a team, not a player. That is why it is crazy that people base their kid's ability on team stats. It tells you nothing about how the kid plays or their development. It's all about the sticker on the back of the car. |
