WOW . Plus 1000 ! Seems Sidwell is suffering under the adage : if you marry for money , you better believe in the end you will earn every dollar..... |
True that the 2 % PITAs suck up the life blood out of teahers, Admin and counsellors everywhere.... key is HOS must have a frickin' back bone and examples need to be made This is the JOB of Admin to lead . LEAD And, no HOS is not part of the DC Power circuit ... they are viewed by these parents as tools, nothing more and they should get wise and back their Faculty/ Staff |
Oh, Good Grief... so the Obama's found a tennis coach that they could trust and it happened to be a Sidwell employee Who gives F **k There is NO quid pro Quo here,,,, the Obama girls ceased needing any help getting into Harvard on a Tues night November in December 2008.. and that was a beautiful night |
Why can’t parents help? You really have to pay someone to do this? |
Honey, I’ve put my hands on my colleagues’ shoulders - to praise, comfort, bond. I’m female and have done this with both male and female colleagues. Calling it sexual harassment is what morons in government with no common sense call it. |
np: Honey, being blind to the fact that quite a few people don’t want to be touched that way in a work setting is obtuse and disrespectful to your colleagues. Generally, I think intent is a big part of how an action is perceived, but just because you think being handsy is warm, not everyone agrees. Now that is common sense. |
Let's create a separate thread for "workplace touching: affectionate or predatory?" |
Honey, part of common and social sense is knowing when someone is comfortable with a certain type of interaction and when they’re not. |
What exactly are you saying? That school college counselors don’t matter? |
|
DP, the main thing, there is information that the parents have no right to about other students - grade point, hooks etc, that weigh into decisions by classmates. If there are two schools my DC likes as an unhooked ED candidate and there are 10 hooked classmates applying to one and 3 hooked applying to the other, then obviously DC should apply to the one that has 3 applicants, or better yet, see if there is a 3rd option that has zero or one other potential applicant. A parent cannot and should not have that information. |
Agree. Don’t see much real difference between this and paying someone to “coach” my kid through a few tough SAT questions. The entire system sucks, and we all know it yet continue to support it. |
+1 |
Back to the actual point of this thread. Is Bryan Garman going to meet with rising senior families to discuss the state of the counseling office and address concerns? |
How about meeting with the parents of the 2019 seniors to "clarify" the alleged terrible behavior of some of the parents? Personally, I think less than 5 of the 260 parents have done anything "wrong" --- Blaming -all- the parents is misleading and diversionary... |
