Sidwell was never "working with" Singer. Per another thread, he was hired as a consultant to testify in a legal proceeding as an "expert witness."

What? Hiring someone as a consultant means working with the person. Besides, this latest allegation suggests that Sidwell was aware parents were using Singer's services AND paid off Gallagher to keep quiet about it. Stinks to high heaven.

Allegation. Where is a link to the court documents or something other than conjecture from an anonymous poster?

I should add, if there were Sidwell parents who were working with Singer, who illegally paid money or otherwise committed fraud on behalf of their kids, they should be brought to justice. Similarly, if any of the kids lied on their applications to gain admittance to a college or university, that admittance should be revisited.

In reality, an expert witness works with the lawyers representing the party (Sidwell in this case), not with the party itself. In fact, discussions with an expert witness are not generally protected by attorney-client privilege, and so lawyers will keep to a minimum the direct interaction between an expert and their client. An expert witness/principal relationship is so far removed from a typical "consultant" type role that it is highly misleading to use that term in this context.

In this case, someone posted a very serious allegation against a school with less than zero proof. Yes, that isn't the way anonymous forums work, but if I were that poster, I would provide a link or else fear a libel suit from the school - if the school even reads this forum.

Wow, the PPs are all worried about their school. I want to say kudos and bravo to Mr. Gallagher for having the courage of his convictions, and by living the value system that we want to see in our children. There is a lesson here, folks, and it isn't in rounding the wagons now because you want to protect the "integrity" or "good name" of your school.

So where are these court documents Mr. Gallagher?

I am not Mr. Gallagher. I am a mom who posted much earlier on a thread (maybe this thread?) about this topic. My husband and I knew of Singer and the connection with local school parents a few years prior to the scandal breaking this past fall. I can guarantee you that if we knew about it, and we have no affiliation with your school, then school officials must have known about it. We stayed way far away because we heard the rumors from family and friends in LA about what a sleazeball Singer is. Of course, it isn't rocket science since you only have to be in his near proximity to catch that vibe anyway.

In any event, I think that your (and others) hysterics are misplaced. Rather than hashing it out here, why aren't you in at the school asking the hard questions??? Good luck. You're gonna need it.

And just because you knew about it doesn't mean a school three thousand miles away did. Should they have? probably, but more likely their attorneys said they needed a guidance expert witness and got a recommendation. Who knows, but right now, it is pure speculation and baseless claims.

I'm a Sidwell parent. I am genuinely interested in learning more--if there is in fact anything more to learn. Were documents filed or otherwise disclosed in connection with one of the Varsity Blues cases that somehow point to a relationship between Singer and Sidwell and/or Sidwell parents? If so, please point us to them, because I am genuinely interested in seeing them as I previously stated, and others undoubtedly are as well.

Otherwise, I'm unclear as to what you are getting at in referring to "actions your school did or did not take"? Actions in connection with what?
