LAMB Public Lottery

I don't think there will be that much movement since the school is staying at South Dakota this year. I absolutely think next year there will be significant churn.

You just never know. People may lottery into closer schools and decide to go based on the knowledge that LAMB is planning to relocate. It’s definitely not a 0% chance.

Definitely agree with the above.

Most families who dont live near Kingsbury are planning on staying next year and moving on once lamb goes to Kingsbury. Everyone is playing the lottery.

PS- with lamb's financial issues due to the lawsuits, they might want to reconsider a move. The savings will be outweighed by the huge amount of families who will leave, like our three kids.

I think it is a sad commentary on the state of DC schools that anyone still wants to send their kids to LAMB though after the way they mishandled the sexual abuse cases.

Those who mishandled it have been fired or asked to leave. My children's teachers and community are wonderful- I am glad the school has removed the toxic elements and is looking forward.

When things like this happen it is rarely just one or two people's fault, especially when those people are school leaders. It's the leaders who create a school's culture. The culture they created appears to be one of not asking tough, uncomfortable questions when confronted with evidence. of serious wrongdoing.

If this is how you think things work, you don't apply.

If you have other ideas regarding what might have happened and what you want for your kids and what you think they'll get, you do apply.

In short, you do you.

Dont forget to exclude Sidwell Friends school, Oyster, and Beauvoir. You can't take any chances with your kid. Best never to leave your children with anyone else. After all, an estimated one in 20 teenage boys and adult men sexually abuse children, and an estimated one teenage girl or adult woman in every 3,300 females molests children. So really, never leave your children out of your sight!!!!!

How are campuses assigned for PK3? We live very close to one Lamb campus. The other would be pushing it.

Right now PK3 is at Missouri Avenue and South Dakota. Walter Reed only has older students.

If you are admitted on the early end, you usually can request the campus you are assigned to. If you are admitted off of the waitlist later, you are assigned where there is space. We were admitted in late summer and asked to be at the campus closest to our house, but ended up at the one further away. It’s a 5 min drive versus a 15 min one, so not a dealbreaker for us.

We got in with a waitlist number of 32 a few years ago for PK3. If I recall correctly, there were maybe 25 or 27 spots available. We got the call in late May. Good luck!

Sorry if it’s obvious, but I don’t understand the big deal about LAMB moving to Kingsbury campus and how there would be higher attrition. The Missouri campus is less than a mile from Kingsbury, right? I understand SD campus will be a hike but is there something else that factors into the anticipated high attrition?

i dont understand why so many people are oblivious to the fact that LAMB has 2 lawsuits and a terrible administration. Getting into LAMB is not a great thing wake up!

Families for whom the SD campus is convenient or doable (Brookland, Woodridge, Capital Hill, Ward 7 or even 8) are going to have a challenging time with Kingsbury. That's the issue.

Yes it's actually quite a commute for these families. Many people prioritize commute in their lottery selection. I take it you didn't.

SERIOUSLY!!?? Have you read the lawsuits?? this does not compare to ANY of the cases you list here. If you want to turn the other way and send your kids to a place that does not prioritize safety and transparency then go ahead, but please inform yourself and read the lawsuits that clearly detail how the school continuously ignored several reports over the course of many years.
