Well then you are in for a treat when you get in they NEVER follow through on anything

PP here who got a call saying my daughter got in to PK3 last week. I got an email today. Just FYI since folks were talking about this.

After all, an estimated one in 20 teenage boys and adult men sexually abuse children, and an estimated one teenage girl or adult woman in every 3,300 females molests children. So really, never leave your children out of your sight!!!!!

SERIOUSLY!!?? Have you read the lawsuits?? this does not compare to ANY of the cases you list here. If you want to turn the other way and send your kids to a place that does not prioritize safety and transparency then go ahead, but please inform yourself and read the lawsuits that clearly detail how the school continuously ignored several reports over the course of many years.

Unlike you I AM informed. So Informed that I know the responsible parties are out. Relax.

Anonymous wrote:Sorry if it’s obvious, but I don’t understand the big deal about LAMB moving to Kingsbury campus and how there would be higher attrition. The Missouri campus is less than a mile from Kingsbury, right? I understand SD campus will be a hike but is there something else that factors into the anticipated high attrition?

Families for whom the SD campus is convenient or doable (Brookland, Woodridge, Capital Hill, Ward 7 or even 8) are going to have a challenging time with Kingsbury. That's the issue.

Yes it's actually quite a commute for these families. Many people prioritize commute in their lottery selection. I take it you didn't.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but you should know that these families were told by the (now fired) principal that the school would stay at South Dakota and had no plans nor any future plans to move.

There is a difference between an hour round trip commute and a two hour round trip commute- that's the issue.

There are about 700 people who disagree with you.

Don't feed the trolls. Either she's on the waitlist hoping for a spot by spouting off lies and half truths, or she's crazy. Either way, best to ignore.

Thank you for saying this. So much negativity.

Newbie/ dumb question: My child is #26 on the PK3 waitlist for LAMB. Am I correct in understanding that there's a good chance DC will get a slot?

Also, where can I go (besides this board) to learn more about their upcoming geographical move(s)?

I hadn't seriously researched LAMB b/c I knew there was such a small chance of getting a spot, so I'm a little caught off guard. TIA!

Yes, a good chance.

Ask the school about the move plans if/when you get a slot.

The (very unsatisfying, but truthful) answer to your question about moving: there is a strong likelihood that LAMB will move, but it is definitely not a certainty. The timing is equally uncertain - it is unlikely (IMO) that it will happen for the 18-19 school year, but likely it will occur for the 19-20 school year (assuming it happens at all). There isn't a single good resource for information about the move because it's still an uncertainty. Three things to consider: (1) although LAMB has not been great about communications with parents, it appears that the new administration is trying to be better, (2) if/when you get an offer (and I think with #26 you stand a good chance) you will have an opportunity to tour the school (if it's during the summer you can ask to tour the campus where the summer camp is held), (3) we were like you (through our name in, because why not, and then were surprised by an offer) and have been thrilled so far. If you have other questions, I can try to answer them.

Why and how do they not know something as basic as the location of the school for NEXT YEAR?

How has the charter board not weighed in?

Thanks so much for this - sounds like if/ when it's time to make a decision, we'll have to do so without a clear picture on the long-term commute. I would love to hear your perspective on how Spanish immersion has gone for your children - have you supported it outside of the classroom? My family is 100% for language immersion, but not necessarily Spanish (we speak english and another european language at home). In theory we love the idea of a bilingual education but want to go in with our eyes open with regards to the amount of extra effort it'll take as a family. Thanks so much for your perspective!

I am another new parent. I asked at a new parent tour last week- they will be in their current locations for next school year, hoping for Kingsbury for the 19-20 school year.

A move to the Kingsbury building wouldn't happen until 2019-20. LAMB hasn't taken the proposal to the charter board yet.
