For a case as publicized as this one, the hospital is the worst place for her if she wants to maintain any privacy. Anyone can walk in there and harass her or take her picture. There are stories about reporters sneaking into hospitals to take pictures or bombard victims with questions without their consent. I'm sure she wanted to be back with her family and her children. |
There have been cases of hoax branding. This either a hoax, or related to the marijuana industry (which is big and wild up in that part of CA). |
I agree, the story is bizarre, and the husband seems like a narcissistic fame chasing weirdo. The way he talks of his wife, like how he words things, is bizarre.
However, some of the things being discussed on this thread are misunderstandings. What the husband actually says: 1. she was pushed out of the car with a bag on her head. obviously, she removed it 2. her hair was "cut off". This doesn't mean it was shaved. They could have just cut off her pony tail or something, leaving her with just shorter hair. 3. He didn't arrive at the scene first, a police officer gave his phone to Sherri who called her husband and he was talking to her as he was driving to the location she was found. He didn't actually see her until at the hospital |
This morning on the news they were saying that unfortunately a lot of these details are consistent with recent cases of human trafficing that have happened or were busted.
Sounds like they are leaning toward believing her. They discussed a description of the two women she described (though they apparently kept half of their faces covered in her presence. |
She may not have been hospitalized because she didn't have good health insurance and was afraid of the debt she might incur. No one can force you to stay in the hospital.
I think its pretty obvious, from reading between the lines, that the women who dropped her off were in some way related to the man that abducted her and wanted her gone. They cut her loose from whatever she was chained to and dropped her off in predawn. I think the sheriff's department released more detail about her injuries to shut down the talk about it being a hoax. |
Right? I've found that when people want to blame the victim, it usually is because they have an intense and natural desire to justify why it couldn't happen to them. But it could. It could happen to any of us. |
If something horrible did happen to this woman, I am very sorry. I find the husband's behavior REALLY weird. The last thing I'd want if I were her would be him giving dramatic reenactments on every talk show/in every magazine that came his way about my ordeal. He seems a little rehearsed and the language he uses is really weird. |
I HAVE VERY REAL SUSPICIONS THAT THERE WAS ALIEN INVOLVEMENT IN THE SITUATION. STAY TUNED.....THE TRUTH WILL COME TO LIGHT!!!! Likely from mars. |
Living here in Northern California I certainly get a good laugh reading all these comments. Are people for real? Most everything that's been written here is totally crazy. And as for a hospital stay, she had no medical reason to be admitted. Nothing was life threatening or needed constant medical care.
As for pot related, this area of Shasta County isn't known for it. All that happens west of here closer to the coast. Some of you people need to go back to the politics forum! |
I believe he is doing this obviously for money. I seriously doubt he wants fame. He complexity cooperated with the police and passed a lie detector. He works at Best Buy and probably not independently wealthy. If The Today Show or GMA offers him $10k for a few wedding photos I am sure he saw no harm in that. That is quite a bit of money for quite a few families. Her pictures is plastered everywhere as it is. I am glad she is alive and wish her and her family a swift recovery. |
If someone has been held captive for 3 weeks, been horribly beaten, chained, branded, has a broken nose, lost 13 lbs. through starvation/dehydration, with injuries described as "gruesome", I would think that warrants an overnight stay in the hospital for observation and treatment, no? |
np here. not necessarily. she is a young woman with no chronic health issues. she could be hydrated in the er and sent for ct scans, xrays, lab work, etc without being admitted. as long as her vital signs were stable, no reason to admit her. |
She may very well have been advised to stay but wanted desperately to be home. |
Poor woman I feel so sorry for her but thankfully she is alive. Im going to watch the 20/20 on her tonight. |
If it is a hoax, the husband needs to be accountable also. He was was the one seeking media attention blabbing about all the bruises and branding. I understand he makes $18/hour repairing computers @ Best Buy, where he no doubt purchased the iPhone tracking device at a discount.
I think they needed the money because she doesn't work and stays home all day putting on make-up while the kids are @ daycare. |
