Fantastic!!!! |
Ironic that all the billionaires moved to Florida and Texas, but Florida and Texas both took actions to restrict H-1B. I don't understand why Democrats think they can't take that away. |
Is it a coincidence that Florida’s public schools are abysmal?
|
#22 thru grade 12 is not abysmal. #1 for higher education, according to US News. |
Except the tech bros will ask Trump to not support it, and since they finance him, Trump will agree. |
Tech bros don't care. They'll just offshore the work. |
More hysterical MAGA screeching. Trump has been in office for well over a year. If this is such a great priority why hasn’t he done anything about H1Bs? He seems to have plenty of time to hold rallies, play golf and start wars. |
We've seen token legislative initiatives from the Democrats, but what are they doing in the jurisdictions they control, eg the cities and states. Do they have any actions they point to that show that they are actively reigning in their historically pro-immigration stance? So far only thing that has been on the new is Minneapolis. |
What has the GOP done? Absolutely nothing. Do you even know which party controls all 3 levers of government? |
Op this is truly a both sides issue |
Not enough but … Trump tightened standards for skilled-worker visas, especially the H-1B visa program. * Increased denial rates. * Narrowed the definition of “specialty occupation.” * Proposed rules favoring higher-paid applicants. * In his second term, imposed a controversial $100,000 fee on many new H-1B petitions. Also ,Trump backed legislation like the RAISE Act, which would have sharply reduced legal immigration by cutting family-sponsored green cards and ending the diversity visa lottery. While Congress did not pass it, the proposal made his goals clear. His administration also increased scrutiny and processing times for green card applications, resulting in more requests for evidence, denials, and delays. In addition … One of the biggest changes was the “public charge” rule. It expanded the criteria for denying green cards or visas to applicants who were deemed likely to use public benefits such as Medicaid, SNAP, or housing assistance. This affected many family-based immigrants. Courts later blocked or overturned much of this policy. Meanwhile Democrats that advocate for favoring US workers over h1bs -> NONE |
If that's the case and Trump has done all of this great and wonderful stuff, then why are we seeing increased numbers of layoffs of US tech workers and US tech workers having a harder and harder time finding work? Why are US tech companies still flooded with foreign workers? |
Fearmongering. It's not gonna happen. At the end of the day, Americans CREATED the technology, and know how to run it. It's a lie that America lacks the skills set, perpetuated by the South Asian H1B scam pipeline. The H1Bs are carpetbaggers not cut from top quality material. Some of them are highly intelligent and skilled. Let them stay. Structure the program so it doesn't harm highly skilled, capable Americans. |
| Explain what Trump has his $150B army in the streets knocking down doors, yet hasn't rejected any fraudulent H1B applications. He wants the problem to continue to exist so his suppoeters stay angry. He wants companies to pay his slush fund $100K but refuses to enforce the EXISTING law that requires an absence of people willing to accept the job at higher pay. |
The tech is created by H1Bs and H1B-to-greencard/citizens. Look at the names on the published papers. Look at the names of the kids winning all the STEM awards. |
