Old time Dems are ignorant for listening to big tech. Or, they big tech is funding these old time Dems. But, let's not forget that big tech is also funding Trump. |
Empty words. The GOP is in charge and they’ve done nothing. |
They weren't for a while. They only started funding him again when the Democrat platform collapsed. They were actively at war with the GOP for a while, even now they aren't happy with the GOP. npr.org Twitter Permanently Suspends Trump, Citing 'Risk Of Further Incitement Of Violence' : NPR January 7, 2021 PBS Twitter suspends Trump amid Capitol violence | PBS News January 5, 2021 CBS News Trump sues Facebook and Twitter for banning his accounts after January 6 attack - CBS News July 6, 2021 CNBC How Facebook and Twitter decided to take down Trump's accounts January 13, 2021 Reuters Meta to pay $25 million to settle Trump's 2021 lawsuit over suspended accounts January 29, 2025 — Meta Platforms has agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over the suspension of his accounts after the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The settlement allocates $22 million for Trump's presidential library fund and the remainder for legal fees and other plaintiffs. Trump had sued Meta, Twitter, and Google, alleging they unlawfully silenced conservative viewpoints. The lawsuit discussions resumed after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg dined with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Additionally, Meta has taken steps to mend relations with Trump, including ending its diversity programs, scrapping its U.S. fact-checking program, and appointing prominent Republicans to key positions. doesn't matter what the Dems did or did not do. Big tech is bank rolling Trump, and big tech and Trump use H1s. |
Maybe it's hard to believe for you, but check with HR people especially in tech companies, it's so true. And check out students in STEM majors in colleges, a third are Asian-American, plus internationals will be more than two third, don't even need to look at graduate school. |
Not a single democrat. Republicans have become the party of labor House Republicans just introduced the End H-1B Visa Abuse Act of 2026 — a 3-YEAR PAUSE on new H-1B visas + massive reforms to protect American workers from Big Tech abuse! Key provisions of the bill include: • Reducing the annual H-1B visa cap from 65,000 to 25,000 and eliminating all existing exemptions. • Limiting visas to a single three-year term (instead of two). • Requiring applicants to maintain a foreign residence they intend to return to. • Mandating that employers attest they cannot find a qualified U.S. worker, that hiring the foreign worker will not harm American workers, and that they have not laid off (and will not lay off) U.S. workers in the prior or following year. • Setting a minimum salary of $200,000 for H-1B workers. • Awarding visas based on the highest wage offered, replacing the current lottery system. • Prohibiting H-1B workers from working for multiple employers or third-party staffing agencies. • Codifying President Trump’s $100,000 fee per H-1B hire. • Banning H-1B (and H-2A/H-2B) workers from bringing family members to the U.S. • Preventing the federal government from sponsoring or employing nonimmigrant workers. • Requiring nonimmigrant workers to leave the U.S. before changing to another immigration status. The bill is co-sponsored by Reps. Brian Babin (R-TX), Brandon Gill (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Wesley Hunt (R-TX), Tom McClintock (R-CA), Keith Self (R-TX), and Andy Ogles (R-TN). In the Senate, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has voiced support for a temporary pause on the H-1B program. |
Absolutely this! The GOP loves talking out the sides of their mouth. Look at Trump starting e-Verify and then quietly stopping it right after. He got the headlines, and of course he didn't continue it because fewer than half of his properties used it. Trump is the biggest union-buster in U.S. history https://www.epi.org/blog/trump-is-the-biggest-union-buster-in-u-s-history-more-than-1-million-federal-workers-collective-bargaining-rights-are-at-risk/ The GOP are happily screwing American workers. Wait till they take away the unions. |
J.D. Vance has spoken out strongly against H-1B visas as a Senate candidate in Ohio, but his history as a venture capitalist tells a different story. https://www.axios.com/2022/04/22/jd-vances-investments-made-use-of-h-1b-visas-he-opposes Trump Has Handed Coal Miners a “Death Sentence.” But They’re Not Going Without a Fight. https://www.epi.org/blog/trump-is-the-biggest-union-buster-in-u-s-history-more-than-1-million-federal-workers-collective-bargaining-rights-are-at-risk/ Vance’s history on workers’ issues is politically savvy but rarely substantive. Instead, Vance displays a repeated practice of claiming to support workers and their right to organize while practicing business-as-usual anti-union and anti-worker politics. https://onlabor.org/unpacking-jd-vances-labor-record/ J. Why are democrats joining republicans in expanding h1b and OPT? Explain it to me ? |
Every major company does this. Not just tech bros |
So why haven’t they passed the bill? GOP doesn’t want to anger their billionaire overlords who use the H1B program. |
This bill looks awesome. I wish it would move toward but I know how much $$$$ tech uses lobbying so doubt it ever will. |
We've seen that one before. Remember Biden when they asked what his policy was. "Trust me I'm not Trump" Then he spent more time undoing Trump's EO than anything else. They tried to pass amnesty through reconciliation numerous times. They repeatedly tried to give away green cards in the Chips Act. Mum isn't good enough for Democrats anymore. They have to make their policy clear, and by clear they need to actually do something. They have levers they can pull, but right now the Republican states are the ones doing it. Florida and Texas restricted H-1B in public schools. Why haven't Democrat states that claim to be anti-H-1b done that? |
Texas and Florida restricting H-1b. https://badmuslaw.com/blog/h-1b-freezes-what-the-new-state-restrictions-in-texas-and-florida-mean-for-you/ |
| Remember guys, if you tax billionaires, they'll move their companies out of USA, but if you exclude their labor force the USA, the companies will stay! |
