So you're on board with House Bill 863 to eliminate minimum sentencing for manslaughter, rape, possession and distribution of child pornography and removing the mandatory five-day minimum sentence for first-time DUI offenders? Because I'm not. I'm also not on board with raising taxes when we have had a surplus for years. And yes I did indeed vote for her but I do not support these actions. I don't think people know what they want here one minute people are on here complaining about crime and the next minute minute supporting bills like this. |
Explain it to me then. Why do the democrats want to eliminate minimum sentences for these horrible crimes? |
It has been discussed for a long time. https://www.vpm.org/news/2022-02-07/va-senate-scraps-effort-to-abolish-mandatory-minimum-sentences Why are “Democrats” jumping on the FoxNews hysteria bandwagon? |
What does that have to do with anything? It's a terrible idea. More so now than since 2022. |
Why the hysterics over this? Why is it a “terrible idea”? There are legit reasons to give judges more flexibility that have been discussed for years. This is not a new topic. I’m so tired of the a-hole Republican fearmongering as a distraction from real issues. |
The good news is, she's already a lame duck. |

Letting criminals off is a real issue for both rep and dems a like. Plenty of liberals complain about the crime here non-stop. You can't have it both ways, it's an issue you can't just pretend doesn't exist only to rep. that's really ignorant. |
Aside from the Republicans in Congress, no one is “letting criminals off”. Again, there are legit reasons why judges should have more flexibility for sentencing. The only crime I complain about is Trump’s goons murdering innocent people on the street. If Republicans and “Democrats” care about “letting criminals off” they should be pushing to hold these a-holes accountable. |
Yes, but, in reality, sales tax imposition means every quarter, maybe monthly, your poor maid or hair dresser or landscsper has to prepare tax returns and fork over hundreds or thousands in taxes. And possibly pay expense of tax preparation too. Saving that kind of cash can be unrealistic for people living paycheck to paycheck. and burdensome on the lowest earners. |
Consider whistleblowers too. Maid or landscaper comes, does not provide receipt for sales taxes, and somebody reports them to tax department hoping to get a 10% reward. Sales tax audits can go back YEARS. plus interest + penalties, could be a huge amount. Is this next? |
Yes, so much better to run a deficit. JFC. |
+1 Absolute crazy town. I certainly didn't expect this. |
DP. So, if Youngkin had left Virginia with a deficit, rather than a surplus, you'd be pleased? Can't make this stuff up... |
