These taxes affect people directly in making life more expensive and reducing the need/desire to spend money in these service jobs that already don’t pay a lot. What is she thinking?

Right? How is this not obvious? Wealthy people are able to either handle the increased taxes or move if they so desire. Lower income working class people can’t and some of the industries they work in are vulnerable to seeing reduced activity because people can choose not to eat out, or get delivery or avoid various other things she’s increasing taxes on.

Also, why is she doing so many things she campaigned against and what is happening to the surplus she was left with.

What has she done that is against her campaign platform?

For one thing, she campaigned on lowering costs for Virginians yet is proposing many tax increases, which will make things much more expensive in the daily lives of Virginians.

That word "most" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Well clearly what happened is there was too much outrage so they had to fold, for now. Why else would they bother to even introduce them in the first place?

Do you not understand how laws are formed?

Wait, so the tax increases aren’t happening? We were in full panic & looking at Texas real estate to declare residency.

DP, but apparently it's you who doesn't understand. Constituents complain to their reps and the reps decide not to move forward with incredibly unpopular tax hikes. Get it?

Ok, bye!

I don’t think that the state needs folks that would uproot their lives and eat the costs of moving and the transaction costs of buying and selling property because they can’t handle a modest tax increase. You and Texas deserve each other.

I'm not. I lean conservative and voted for Youngkin in 2021. However, I'm staunchly anti-Trump, and anti-MAGA, so Youngkin turned out to be a disappointment, and Winsome Earle-Sears would have been worse.

In 2025, I voted straight "D" at the top of the ticket, basically a vote against all the MAGA candidates. We need to rid politics of this pestilence and I'm glad to start the process in Virginia.

So, no regrets.

I'm not buying this shill post at all.

You may want to get out of your partisan echo chamber.

+1 I'm pretty conservative and agree with your views.

Fairfax County got its meal tax. If we don't build a casino, there's likely to be a new sales tax to pay for transportation, i.e., Metro, funding. The 10% income tax on millionaires is still working its way forward. I remember when Virginia said it would just tax billionaires to find the money.

Millionaires should be taxed more, too, to pay for wrap around social services.
