That's some amazing deflection. Can you answer the PP's question? DP |
I’m SHOCKED I say, SHOCKED. I mean, she’s a “moderate!” |
+1,000 The reflexive, knee-jerk defense of this is so telling. No one will state why the bolded is somehow a "good idea" - because they know it's horrible and makes no sense. |
Hmmmm ... |
It is about allowing judicial flexibility and power to sentence based on individual circumstances, reducing the costs and effects of long term incarceration, and revising the power DAs have---a good portion of people never end up getting the minimum sentence because DAs will use that thread to plea criminal out to lesser charges. SO overall, the idea is that minimum sentencing just hasn't worked as a policy and all the data shows that. All of it. Agree or disagree, but don't act like people opposed to minimum sentences love criminals and are soft on crime. It is a dishonest take and makes you look unable to actually have a useful policy debate. |
It might be decent policy but it’s horrible optics. A perfect example of Democrats feeding propaganda opportunities to Fox News. This is the kind of second-priority legislation you do after you’ve done something popular around affordability, jobs, or housing. |
That I can agree on. |
Why do you think this is the only bill being proposed? Why are you propagating the propaganda? |
Like all the new taxes? That seems like the first priority. |
I think it's necessary to drive the wealthy out of Virginia so the legislature can get around to taxing the middle class. |
| Why are they proposing all these new taxes? I thought Va had a surplus? |
It will drive out the Republicans who don’t like public services. |
This is word salad but you know that. |
VA does have a surplus. Make it make sense. My take is she has a lot more freebies she would like to hand out to some people. |
Hopefully she’s planning to put more money into our schools. VA has notoriously UNDERfunded schools for decades. As a way to rebel against segregation. |
