Relationship Discussion (non-explicit)
Yeah, I don't want to be friends with MAGA. MAGA thinks my sister shouldn't have civil rights because of who she loves. But I guess me not wanting to associate with them is somehow worse? Come on. |
It’s just too late and has gone too far. Enough people have decided that the other political side is evil, not merely incorrect or misguided, so now we are just picking teams and are all just going to have to see what happens when literally everything is divided across political lines. What is sad is that it took so few intolerant people to create this pernicious dynamic. Even if you are open to relationships and friendships with people of opposing political views, as most people are, it’s no longer a rational investment. Too many people are going to be pressured by “secondary boycotts” at it were. It’s not going to be enough to not be MAGA, you’ll be socially punished for having MAGA friends; in the next iteration you will be socially punished for having friends who have MAGA friends. There is no getting off this ride from here. Find people who are aligned with you, there is no other path forward now. The terrible ifs accumulate. |
They have lied every single time they are caught with their divk in their hands, every single time. Look how they portrayed the murder of Good. Why you continue to believe the pedophile protection party's lies is on you. |
| They are also stealing and divvying up property, including vehicles. |
Your sister. Also, millions of people are projected to die following the whole failed DOGE experiment. More people than died in the Haulocaust. And more people will die if they don’t extend the ACA subsidies. Research funding has been slashed at major universities. There is a lot more confusion over vaccines and they are more difficult to get. Combine that with worse access to healthcare in general, and people are going to die. I don’t know. It seems like things are very bad. And it doesn’t even seem like there is a tangible trade-off. It’s not like taxes are lower or unemployment is down or housing is more affordable. I just don’t get it. It seems like there is a very real harm in exchange for a purely theoretical benefit that isn’t panning out. |
This isn't true - I have plenty of friends who have been republicans for decades, and have and still do identify as conservative. They all voted for the Ds - Hillary, Biden, and Harris - to keep trump out of office. That doesn't mean they aren't conservative - they'd happily vote for an old school conservative again. Unless you meant that there aren't any elected officials who are true, non-MAGA conservatives anymore, in which case, I agree. |
They may call themselves conservatives, but they clearly are not understanding what it means to be a conservative. You know who hates Maga… RINOs even more so than liberal. True conservatives despise. MAGA. True conservatives would never vote for Trump. |
My FIL was an old school lifelong republican and he absolutely loathed Trump. |
My LEO family find him vile. My Texas family would never vote for that, |
|
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
"However much you deny the truth, the truth goes on existing." "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." |
They are not pulling moderates from Heritage - moderates haven't worked at Heritage in a long time, maybe ever. They are pulling conservatives uncomfortable with implicit (or explicit) endorsement of white supremacy from Heritage. I applaud those people - better late than never, I guess, but don't mistake them for "moderates." If anything, if you're using traditional pre-2010 definitions, Pence is substantially more conservative than Trump. |

If they didn't vote for Trump, did they vote for the other guy?
If not, they are to blame for Trump getting elected. |
| It wasn't politics... it was something else that booted you out of the group |
I disagree. A lot of nice people voted MAGA because the economy was bad and they wanted a change. It’s not easy to eat your words, and I respect people who are able to do that. |
They are not intelligent. |
