My middle schooler’s bus stop is right in front of my house so she’s outside for maybe two minutes max. When we had snow on Sunday, the same high schooler put on snow pants, a coat, balaclava, and ski gloves so it’s not like he doesn’t know what to do. There are so many other battles I choose to focus on, coats are not the hill I’m dying on.

Original bus stop pp here: the kids weren't shivering at the bus stop even though they weren't dressed for winter weather. We forget how it feels to be young. Some kids just run hotter than others and it is nbd to stand in the cold for a few minutes. They walked there, which also warms them up. There was no breeze and the sun was shining. When you see a kid without a coat in the cold in this area, you see a kid who doesn't want to or need to wear a coat. Certainly their parents would encourage wearing a coat in cold weather, but it is the kid's decision whether they do. Worst case, they feel cold for 10 minutes.
