My kids can decide what to wear on a cold day. If it makes you uncomfortable, so be it. That's your problem. |
Where is it 15 degrees idiot |
It was the morning this thread was started, idiot. No wonder you can't raise your kids properly. You don't even know how to read. |

I doubt anyone walking in Fargo to a bus stop or recess or anything is wearing shorts and a hoodie. I can’t imagine too many elementary schools not having temperature guidelines for outdoor activity. For cold weather it’s not about the temperature alone, they look at the wind chill factor too. If it’s 40 degrees out some might think no coat is needed. But a wind chill factor will make it feel like it’s way below freezing. And contrary to what people think, a temp of 40 degrees with a wind chill factor, if a child gets wet from playing outside or even sweating a lot then they are at risk for hypothermia. Just cover the skin at least. No shorts below 40 degrees. |
| is a trend they don't want to use it. |
Were you never a kid? |
Actually it’s your own child’s problem. They literally don’t know how to take care of themselves. |
I was and when I was cold I brought a coat. I was a kid, not a moron. |

In our family, kids are not in charge.
I am also a ES teacher, and it’s quite clear which of my students run their families. |

I argue with my teen constantly about wearing a coat. It was 13 degrees the other morning in dc. Teens go to school in the dark. The kids refuse because they have to carry them all day. Its not worth the argument in my opinion.
I try to set up natural consequences though. I make sure to not be available to meet after school so they have to walk in the cold. Still doesn't learn. My kid feels a base layers, clothes and finally a hoodie is sufficient. |
He was trying to be cool by not wearing a jacket. Why that is considered cool and seems to be only the males is beyond me but I see the tiny little boys with their silky little shorts walking to school. By high school they are over it. |
Does he ski or sledding or ice skating? Even indoor skating is cold. If kids don’t do outside activities I guess they aren’t outside much. The thing with jackets is there are so many varieties. There are some that are so light with good coverage that it would be hard to hate them. If a jacket is too tight or too heavy then it’s unpleasant. If they found the right coat it might make a difference. |
| This is the ES forum. Parents have full influence on their ES students. |
