I saw 2 girls at the school bus stop this am wearing very light jackets, no hat, coats or gloves. Some kids won't wear coats for whatever reason. They'll live.
Depending on how cold it is and how long they're outside, they literally might not. But ok.
Yeah, no, standing in the cold in short sleeves for maaaybe 15 minutes will not kill anyone.
Right? I shiver looking at some of these kids walking to school in shorts, but I’m not dumb enough to think they literally don’t own a coat or long pants.
Literally no one said that they don't own the clothing. What we are saying is that parents just shrug and say "Susie doesn't want to wear it so I don't make her." Susie doesn't want to to do a whole lot of things, but it's your job to teach her and guide her. Or are we just letting kids decide everything now?
What decisions did you allow your kids to make?
At what age? In elementary school, they could choose among the items of clothing that were age, weather, and situation appropriate.
No, you can't back it up now. You think it's your job to decide everything. What exactly are your kids allowed to decide?
I JUST told you. Please read it again.
That's it? How sad for your kids.
So your kid decides to go to school in just his underwear? WHY NOT!!!! HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHOOSE. Otherwise, you're an authoritative parent. See how ridiculous that sounds?
Your attempt to shame other parents has failed spectacularly. You should probably just step away because you're flailing and spinning out now
No, no.....you started it. Why not let him go in his underwear??? Explain.
DP do you not hear yourself? Do you get that elementary school kids understand social rules and are, by and large not going to ever want to go to school in their underwear? Did your kid ever demand to go to school in his underwear? That's not typical behavior.
I do.....but you kept insisting I'm "sad" because I don't let my kid choose exactly what to wear himself. The example was intended to sound ridiculous because it is. The whole notion that 7 year olds are going to be able to choose appropriate clothing all on their own is ridiculous. That's what I've been trying to tell you. That's why I think it's a parenting failure to let them decide these things completely on their own.
What? A 7 year old absolutely knows that it is not appropriate to go to school in their underwear. That's why you don't see any kids going to school in their underwear. It's not because their mommies are spanking them if they go outside in their underwear.
Who is spanking????? You keep missing the point, intentionally, I assume.
You're trying to argue that because kids don't go to school in just their underwear, they clearly have zero actual power to decide whether to wear/keep a coat on. Therefore, their lack of a coat is a clear sign of poor parenting?!? It's nonsensical.
No, dear. You are arguing that because I insisted that my kids wear a coat at that age that I didn't give them enough personal choice and therefore I must be a horrible authoritarian. You're nonsensical.
You're confusing me with another poster in order to change the subject away from your ridiculous underwear argument.
No, you're deflecting because you didn't read what I was responding to. Dumb.
Wow, you are way too invested in bashing other parents. Are you ok?
Are YOU ok? You can't seem to keep up with the conversation.
Seriously, tell us what is wrong. Maybe we can help.
Your idiocy. Can you work on that?
You're frantically insulting random strangers on the internet. There is something else going on here. Maybe find a different outlet for your rage about whatever it is that is really bothering you. Take up kickboxing or something.
awwwwww, try not being a shit parent and you won't feel so called out. Mkkkkayyy bye now.
NP. So if you make sure your kid is wearing their coat when they leave for school, but then they end up taking it off, is that an example of a shit parent?
You keep repeating that nonsense. It won't magically come true the more you say it.
Which part is confusing you? What part of a child owning a coat but not wearing it sometimes is so nonsensical?
DP I am really starting to doubt she has any experience with elementary school children. In her mind they can't take their own jackets off and also insist on going to school in their underwear.
Agree. This is someone who knows absolutely nothing about children, lol
Keep telling yourself that. I have three who are thriving.
And for that I congratulate you. If your kids were all clamoring to go to school in their underwear in elementary school they must have come really far.
The only reasons her kids didn't show up in their underwear every day is due to her amazing parenting. But I have yet to see any kid in their underwear so I'm not sure what that suggests.
I am starting to be impressed with your ability for total horseshit. Not once did I say that my kid asked to go to school in his underwear. I'm not at all surprised that you didn't understand the point I was trying to make. You just sound sad at this point.
Oh, so you did absolutely nothing, like every other parent, to prevent your (fake) kids from going to school in their underwear? Congratulations, do you want a medal?
hahahaha like I said. You're just sad. No need to doubt the existence of my kids because you feel stupid and called out. Some of us are just better at this parenting thing than others.
It is really easy to be an imaginary parent. Everyone who doesn't have kids is an amazing parent.
