Trump is playing chess while the Dems are playing checkers. If the govt does shutdown, the budget will be balanced within a year. Just in time for the midterms....

Every federal employee will continue doing their job as normal, albeit without pay.

That's it. The end.

What are you talking about? Not all employees are essential and this memo makes it clear that even essential employees for programs that don’t align with the admin can be RIFd. Learn how to read. They can RIF anyone they want and if they go through with this, many ppl will lose their jobs and govt will be crippled

DP news flash they are going to do it anyways. Once you say this out loud maga will think yes that is a good idea. This is our end goal. Why make it conditional on a shutdown? Let's fire everyone.

You do not seem to know who you are dealing with. Sorry if you are losing your job but your federal job is dead man walking. It is not if but when the axe falls. It's also just not federal workers contractors are going to face the same thing The DMV will be hard hit.

This is what people voted for

I thought contractors like Palantir looked to reap huge profits?

Huh? The Treasury isn't essential.

They'll all be fired.

Why should they? They were not consulted.

Um...no. A shutdown does not help balance the budget - it does the opposite. And Trump has never balanced the budget even when the government hasn't shut down.

Not sure if I should give them this much credit, but firing everyone then only bringing back the good workers is a great way to get around the problem of firing the deadweight.

One your assumption is that there is "deadweight" in the government. . How are you determining who is the good worker or not?

Can someone briefly explain why the republicans cannot get this done without the democrats?
