Agreed. The sign was wrong. Why can’t liberals admit this woman made a mistake, take ownership, do better? Everyone makes mistakes. This is a big one.

This is an entire thread of liberals calling this out, who have also been calling out the Trump admin’s racism.

AND

This is an entire thread of MAGA calling this out, who have also been ignoring the Trump admin’s racism, including his call today to oust DC’s black woman mayor.

Nah. This is an entire thread of liberals trying to castigate anyone who brings this up as a dolt who doesn’t get the high brow ironic humor that was surely intended here with this sign.

That’s what this thread is.

Like a good MAGA you completely ignored the second part and just barked like for a demented felon who doesn’t care about you, your family, or your neighbors.

Again, how convenient.

I ignored it because it’s an irrelevant attempt at distraction and deflection. Which is all you do.

There’s a thousand threads about Trump. This thread is about an obtuse leftist woman in Arlington who you’d prefer we didn’t talk about because it’s embarrassing for you. So you attempt to make this thread about Trump.

It isn’t.

Bye.

LOL. Moving goalposts. You said liberals weren’t calling this out. I did, as did many others. Why would some rando make me embarrassed? I’m not in the least. She has no bearing on me.

I made this about Trump because MAGA is frothing right now like mad dogs, and I can call out the hypocrisy any time I see it. Which is now!

Two things can be — and in this case are — true.

1. The sign was racist regardless of the woman’s intent.

2. The Republicans and MAGAs posting here don’t give a shit about racism except when they think it’s against white people and their outrage here is manufactured.

Wow. And, it's never occurred to you that they plan to vote for a Black woman? You need to quit projecting.

They plan to vote for her because she supports Trump. They wouldn’t care if she were a Martian.

Nope. I see her as having remarkable courage and willing to leave the Democrat plantation with her own views.
The nerve of her right?

BREAKING: The woman who held up this sickening racist sign to protest Winsome Sears, has been identified as a campaign volunteer for Virginia Governor Democrat nominee Abigail Spanberger

Who cares she made her bed standing with the kkk
She’s not qualified to have any job

The sign seems to be saying that the Dems are going to bring back their Jim Crow Laws if fetishing men aren’t allowed to shower with girls. That seems kinda racist and batshit crazy all rolled into one. Kinda sums up the Dem party right now. They might want to regroup.

As it turns out, Grammy thought this sign was really clever, and then she got pulled aside by a colleague inside who told her, Hey, that sign is getting an awful lot of media attention and all of a sudden she got a little nervous. But the internet is forever

There’s a middle ground between thinking the sign is “fine” and thinking it’s some horrifically racist statement worth handwringing.

Many people have agreed it was open to misinterpretation or not a completely accurate analogy.

But it is completely disingenuous to claim this woman was threatening to re-enact Jim Crow laws. And it’s especially absurd to stretch this into an accusation of a civilian wanting to overturn civil rights when we have a *sitting President* who gets a complete pass on violating the rights of many minority groups.

I have a feeling a lot of people who are “upset” over this woman’s sign will turn around and excuse all sorts of horrific behavior from the White House. Which makes it clear they don’t actually care about racism, they just are gleeful to get to throw the accusation at someone else.

I am a Democrat who wants Spanberger to win, and I don’t understand how you can be so sure about the bolded. Surely we can all at least admit this sign would never have been shown if the candidate was a conservative white man versus a conservative Black woman. And if we can be honest about that, how on earth can you be so sure about the bolded?

There is a lot of tribalism going on here, e.g. this woman is on my side so I am going to contort myself to take the most innocuous interpretation possible, regardless of how facially ridiculous that take is. I don’t think it’s at all honest. The fact is that there is a reasonable chance this lady might in fact be a raging racist who sees a Black woman and immediately jumps to a Jim Crow threat. That’s what it looks like, frankly. And it’s okay to be honest about that.

Occam's Razor. This is a woman who is motivated to be a political event, supporting the Democratic candidate, and is concerned about trans rights. The intersection on the Venn diagram of trans rights advocates + rabid racists has to be infintesimally small.
