The United States Feels Like a Sad, Empty, Dark Place

No, we DON’T all feel this way.

I’m really optimistic for the future, because we have a president who isn’t afraid to address the problems that have been building for decades, in particular, millions of people who are here illegally and shouldn’t be.

I do not think most of these illegals immigrants are bad people - BUT - they shouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be allowed to just show up in Mexico or Guatemala, get a job, use govt resources and schools for citizens, and stay there indefinitely. I’d get kicked out. Same thing should apply here.

Likewise, I’m happy we’re finally addressing trade imbalances and unfair tariff practices by other countries while the US doesn’t reciprocate equal tariffs. Personally, I think tariffs should look like a mirror, where we base our own tariffs on goods from other countries at the same exact rate they set for US made goods.

Iran should never have a nuclear weapon and we’re finally putting teeth into that, rather than bribing them with billions of dollars that they then use to fund the exact nuclear program they accepted bribes to not pursue.

So no, drama llamas, not everyone shares your ridiculous dystopian outlook.

LOL. What you call dystopian is facts. Read a goddamned newspaper.

Please don’t use the Lord’s name in vain. That’s incredibly offensive to me and others.

I would actually like to see many of these words scrapped from the English lexicon. Better than some of the words that Biden and the left wanted removed and replaced.
mother
father
assimilation
woman

And, then there are the euphemisms the left pushes...
individual who breastfeeds
undocumented immigrant
irregular migration

And, let's not forget how Biden, et al redefined "infrastructure." What a joke.

The worst part of the Biden term though is his actions.

These are the euphemisms that the right pushes:

unborn child (fetus)
illegal alien (non-US citizen who is undocumented)
marriage (something that is only between a biological man and a biological woman)
states rights = states should be allowed to make their own rules when I don't like a federal law
virtue signal = when liberals stand up for the rights of others
white genocide (lol)
Christian = mostly they mean evangelicals (Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, etc. are not really "Christians")
parental rights = telling public schools what and how to teach

Not to mention awful words like:

*Anchor baby
*Catch and release (they're not animals!)

What is a fetus BUT an unborn child?

Has there EVER been an account of a human fetus EVER becoming something OTHER than a child when born?

What are you expecting a human fetus to be? A dolphin? A goldfish? A puppy? A bicycle? An iPad?

But oddly enough, they always come out as human babies. Crazy, huh!?!

Please. Take your faux outrage somewhere else. You can’t support MAGA and lecture people about God. As a Christian, the entire MAGA movement is an affront to Christianity.

LOL!!! But the cretin currently occupying the White House doesn't offend your Christian sensibilities? Anyone who voted for Trump is NOT Christian.

Weird take given that the clear majority of church attending Americans voted for Trump. Whatever you want to think. But am always amused at "devout" Christians accusing other Christians of not being a Christian.

OP is in a problematic place. Suggest she turns off the TV. I think the US is headed for a greater and brighter future.

There weren’t daily meltdowns like we have again this time. It’s comical to watch. And enlightening the level of privilege on display thinking the US is coming to an end and it’s the end of days.

I’m not sure Jesus would agree with you that it’s a “greater and brighter future”because he gave us brains so we could cure children’s cancer, and yet Christians are fine with kids dying and also kicking millions off health care to enrich the wealthy. Thats cruel.

Actually, I didn’t. So we have that. I wade in here periodically to see what people are freaking out about. This thread delivers for sure.

Hoo boy, what a question.

The reason that authoritarian regimes are able to take over is because this is the barometer most people use when judging what, if anything, has changed in their daily lives. By the time you realize you can't stand on a street corner and protest the President it's too late.

Again, for the people in the back!

NP. I’m with OP. We are marching toward authoritarianism in the United States. I agree with others that we need to act. It was inspiring to see the people in Hungary come out for Pride. We need that popular resistance here. No Kings was a start.

It's not weird when you realize that religion/religious belief has been on the decline in the US for a long time. A lot of us have seen through the hypocrisy.

There is no pleasure living in the US due to politics, standards of living, how expenses it is, the lack of real freedoms, half of the country engulfed by the maga cult even when facts stare them in the face, a broken and cruel SCOTUS who insists on unlimited executive power that has sealed our fates as a country, AI taking over, and tech bros being clearly in charge, our way of life being dismantled, education on its knees…there is no amount of praying that will ever see us through, it’s over for all of us. It’s too late.

Well then leave!
