New AP Calc teacher with 0 teaching experience is not going well so far....fingers crossed... the kids feel for him as do I but with the new grading policy and an AP course it is stressful for all.

I will be interested to see how Wootton administration deals with that scenario. This happens in many DCC schools and kids are forced to just suffer with the lack of instructional quality.

2 of the Wootton math teachers are now at Hoover Middle School. Thanks for bringing the high school math experience to our middle school.

Looks like another counselor has left. New job posting on MCPS Careers as of yesterday.

Sad to see all the criticism. While we initially had a schedule issue, the new counselor was super responsive, working late at night to respond last week. DS says his first week has gone well and he has great teachers. We’ve been at Wootton a long time and it’s a great school. The concerns we have this year would be the same at any other HS as they relate to county policy. I feel like there are a few posters here with an axe to grind.

Glad things have worked out for you. Not for our student - counselor unresponsive until cornered in the office. Very stressful first week of school.

I feel for the teacher. I had to teach an AP class my first year of teaching and it was so stressful. Even if you know the content, it is not easy to figure out how to teach it to high schoolers

Teachers are very unhappy with administration. Thankfully we love the kids and do not let it impact instructional time and relationships with students.

This is not about having an axe to grind. Just look at the facts. Ask yourself, why did 6 out of 8 counselors left? Why such a huge staff turnover? Even the head of security left. SMH. There is a reason for that.
