Watch out - they might accuse you of being trans!

Is it really that scary to be “accused” of being trans?

You must not be paying attention

Why would you be scared of being called trans?

You sweet, innocent and completely naive person. It's never been safe to be trans. Things got moderately better in past 20 years, and backslid mightily during the 2024 election to present day.

The federal government isn’t going after transgender civil servants. The executive order was only for military.

Anti- trans sentiment was one of the three main issues that led to people voting for this admin. They are definitely not done going after transgender people.

99% of people are not against trans people in a workplace. I think it was more the sentiment that any topics of sex should get left at home, along with religion and politics.

The big trans issue was more over which gender they should compete as in sports. That's the one people voted against.

I have been at IRS for 35 years and have never heard of this. Everyone used to dress up more in the early years. Now it is business casual with some people pushing the envelope in jeans. We are non public facing and anything else would be ridiculous. Can you imagine managers behind closed doors...is Cindy's top ok? I am not sure if it is professional. Men are easy. Any button up shirt and a tie I can be fine with..but that top has a bow?? Are bows professional?? We need more specific guidance.

If you all hadn’t been wearing JEANS to work you wouldn’t be in this situation.

That’s fair

I have two kids working in n big tech. Tshirts and jeans are the norm. Shorts in the summer. A collared shirt is dressing up.

My tech kid won a STEM contest at 14 and visited Congress to accept the award.

When my kid saw all these people in suits my kid wondered if there was a wedding or funeral that day.

When I commented those people were at work, my kid laughed and commented on how nobody wearing a suit actually does any work. I actually pretty much agree even though I had to wear a suit every day back in the 1990s.

Don’t forget, only one person per office gets to be that guy who always wears a bow tie. Get in quick and there’s no reason that guy can’t be you ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)

This wins the thread

The person who uses the shredder the most should get the bow tie option.

Troll.

I'm not a troll, and I am scandalized at all the cuts (I've got neighbors and friends who were let go), the RTO, and the general nastiness and humiliations.

But to the honest, I applaud a more professional dress code for the federal government. Americans are notoriously lax in dress and I don't think it's a good thing.

And for the people who need to buy stuff... I buy my clothes on Poshmark.

I don't believe you. This is not an effort to bring a more professional dress code, this is a tactic to get people to leave. And the concern trolling about how people won't take you seriously if you complain about something is a constant refrain no matter what the topic.

+1

I have been working in person since day one and yet about 95% of our meetings are virtual. Dress code should *maybe* be that everyone wears a presentable top. Lol

I don't see the problem with wearing a suit and tie. Shouldn't people dress formally for work anyways.

Why would people leave because of this?

There are a couple people that post on this board that really hate transgender people. They find every post with a reference to trans people and post the same things in it. They must be using google to find them. There’s no one that pp is a fed if she thinks a trans woman who is a federal employee is going to assault her on a federal property at their office. And then mentioning her daughter, like she brings her daughter who should be in daycare or school? It’s a weird canned response.

Our cafeteria hasn’t been open in years and our water fountains are all taped off with caution tape and warning signs about legionnaires disease. You must be working in private industry.

Sadly, I know exactly which agency you work for.
Everyone not close to retirement is looking for a position outside of federal government.

Maybe a Trump appointee can come visit and we can make sure he drinks some refreshing tap water.
