Fed employees: Dress code is next wave of annoyance

Anonymous
I have some skirt suits from the 90s that I still fit into. It’ll be nice to bring them out again, to be honest.

I get that they are just trying to make people quit and this just annoys me.

OMG you mean no more PJ's and Crocs??

This is a troll. No agency did this.

"Equivalent." LOL. Lot of leeway there.

Don’t forget, only one person per office gets to be that guy who always wears a bow tie. Get in quick and there’s no reason that guy can’t be you ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)

I call bolo tie!

Troll.

I'm not a troll, and I am scandalized at all the cuts (I've got neighbors and friends who were let go), the RTO, and the general nastiness and humiliations.

But to the honest, I applaud a more professional dress code for the federal government. Americans are notoriously lax in dress and I don't think it's a good thing.

And for the people who need to buy stuff... I buy my clothes on Poshmark.

Postmark is RIDICULOUSLY the expensive for work clothes especially for the govt. it’s supposed to designer clothes second hand for galas as a grad student or nonprofit worker.

Used clothes are pretty ick, I’m sorry. I see how people live.

Just get basics from Kohls or something.

Watch out - they might accuse you of being trans!

Aka wear the sluttiest dress ever

Society changes. People used to wear suits on airplanes too and that's just not coming back.

We had a similar dress code at the DOJ and Fridays were business casual. Not sure what the big deal is.

Is it minor to require people to buy a whole new dressy wardrobe while there are proposals to RIF, freeze salary, force increased contributions to pensions and cut the SS supplement? Really?
Where's the increase in pay?

Go to good will. No one said it couldn’t be ill fitting.

We already have a business casual dress code. Never jeans. I usually wear slacks and a blouse. But requiring suits is ridiculous

DHS HQ is doing this. Suits required. Every day.

That’s a totally fine dress code! I can’t imagine anyone would have an issue with it.

I’m definitely a bit of an over the top dresser and wouldn’t mind business formal. I see no issue with jeans though. What I draw the line at is pantyhose. I had a good job as a congressional staffer lined up and they told me I needed a jacket, heels and pantyhose daily. I thought she was trolling me with the pantyhose. At the time I was wearing tights (winter) and she did look at my legs when she said it. Nope. I turned down the job.
