Our cafeteria hasn’t been open in years and our water fountains are all taped off with caution tape and warning signs about legionnaires disease. You must be working in private industry.

Let me guess, VA employee?

Nope. From what I saw on Reddit there are quite a few agencies with these situations. Mine included (and it's not the VA).

Nope. Ironically HHS.

Sadly, I know exactly which agency you work for.
Everyone not close to retirement is looking for a position outside of federal government.

Maybe a Trump appointee can come visit and we can make sure he drinks some refreshing tap water.

At ours the fountain water has sand in it, but we were told they tested the water and found nothing wrong except the sand so it was safe to drink. Mmm crunchy.

GSA? Maybe not, because our water fountains are no longer taped off, although they were previously. They said the water was now ok to drink.

Different poster here- I thought you were talking about my Department too! Interior. Our water fountains aren't drinkable, but not sure why. We figured lead.

Apparently this is really common in federal offices.

It's funny but also incredibly sad. Bring your own water. Even if the cafeteria was open, would you even trust the food prepared using the building water or cooked in pots and pans washed with the building's water?

I thought you were speaking of my agency which hasn’t been listed yet…very common. No cafeteria in years, can’t drink water due to Legionnaires, still taped up. lol and sigh

Not to mention the roaches and mice. I never ate at the cafeteria when it was open. Can’t imagine 5+ years of it being dormant have done it any favors should it ever reopen. Last week in the basement I saw the most horrifyingly large….house centipede, I think? It was long, tons of feathery legs. Yay, pets!

Pick something up at goodwill. Or order a cheapo polyester suit from JCPenney online. Wear it every day, until it reeks, then wash it at night, and wear it again. Change your shirts, socks and underwear every day so you don't offend anyone. They won't get the message, but at least you won't get fired for not adhering to the DOGE dictate.

My building has so many mice that they run around during the day when people are there. There’s glue traps laying around the building. It’s ridiculous.

I get that they are just trying to make people quit and this just annoys me.

Sorry OP. I know you’re used to working in your pajamas but it’s time to grow up and buy a suit.

These two women in our office always show up looking disheveled. Latoya and Khadijah. I can’t imagine my boss enforcing a dress code on them.

Feds complain about anything!

Yeah, it's really crazy to object to political leadership trying to get people to quit. In the private sector, workers just love that kind of thing.
