No one, especially colleges, care what your kid or any others say. But thanks for sharing.

Virginia Tech made an offer to a hayfield freshman that transferred in from whatever the corresponding middle school is in Prince William.

Good colleges won’t consider prospects from teams tainted by a cheating scandal. Maybe colleges that are desperate for football players, but no respectable ones.

Many Power 5 schools were visiting Hayfield during the off season in the spring.

I had never seen the team play before and only read about all the complaints on DCUM (this includes in past years as we are an Edison family with daughters so no reason to go to a football game of another school). But my kids went last night and I drove their friends and just stayed to see what the hype was about. And while the Hayfield team is good. They are not large or imposing at all. They're just fast and talented and it's really only 5 of them who stand out. So many people spoke about how unsafe it would be to play them. I can's say how. Edison has a little small player #2. He was tiny tiny and he was fine and might have been the best one of the team. Edison did have 3 guys get injured but 2 looked like cramps and the third looked like what happens when you play football. Hayfield's team is not big at all.

I was at the game, too. Hayfield has 12 players over 6 feet and 200 lbs. Their biggest players are 6’ 6” 279 lbs, 6’ 285 lbs, 3 @ 6’ 1” 260 lbs, and 4 who are 6’ 1” and 240 lbs. Edison has 5 players over 6’ and 200 lbs., their biggest player is 6’ 3” 245 lbs. These are their stats on Hudl. Hayfield also has about twice as many players as Edison.

The game was very unsafe. Lots of late hits (that weren’t called by the refs). The fact there were no serious injuries is a testament to Edison’s players and pure luck.

Edison beat Lewis 49-0 last week. They will be bludgeoned by Hayfield. Lewis is a tiny, young team with inexperienced players. They should not play Hayfield. Mark my words, there will be a serious injury at that game.

Thank for you putting that into perspective. So Hayfield beat Edison 70-6, Edison beat Lewis 49-0, and Hayfield is scheduled to play Lewis next month?

If there is a serious injury at that game, Michelle Reid should be shown the door the same weekend. Seriously, she should locked out of Gatehouse by the following Monday.

If Edison thinks it’s okay to beat a team 49-0, it’s okay to get beat 70-6.

OK Coach Overton, how is this about race? The racial makeup of the schools and teams is similar. Sneaking in illegible players and rigging the system to play smaller teams in order to get your player stats up isn’t really “building a powerhouse.” It’s cheating.

The Superintendent of FCPS publicly said the coach was not to have cheated, ur you keep swearing the man cheated. You are gaslighting the Hayfield program. And you don’t have that same energy for other powerhouse programs in the region such as, Washington and Liberty, Battlefield, or Madison.

You will find that each of those other programs has brought in athletes that don’t live boundaries zoned for the corresponding school, yet you keep coming for Overton.

The coach has done something special with the Hayfield program. Kids are getting exposure and offers to play at the next level. They are having success and doing well. The envy and the hate of a successful football program run by a confident Black coach isn’t necessarily.

This is the same Hate Coach Prime is getting. The white supremeacists hate a successful confident Black man. The think of someone like that as an "uppity n****r”.

This is purely misinformation. Actual fake news.

The Hayfield Clemson commit who had been ineligible was on the field tonight and scored a TD.

How was he ineligible? I’m curious how it’s known because FCPS and Reid tried very hard to say that the identities of the 9 ineligible students should be kept private. So my question is, if no one knows who they are, how does anyone know if they are playing at games or not?

This one was particularly high profile because he was a D1 college commit. He did not play in any game prior to last night and then caught a TD last night.

He was cleared on Wednesday.

Cleared of what?

That’s great the Hayfield athletes are getting well-deserved exposure. But there’s not much football recruiting in McLean and Arlington. All those football athletes are neighborhood kids that grew up together. Few if any transfers except for military or foreign service families. Not sure about Madison football though, since that very sports-focused school has a very long history of recruiting for specific programs within the VHSL guidelines. Madison has long held the title of Northern Va “sports powerhouse” and they actively seek to maintain that, even compromising academic standards (as has been explained in detail on this forum).

Cleared to play, some people in the board just had to sign off on some documents.

Even assuming Maxprep rankings are worthless, is Hayfield not higher because West Springfield wasn’t a shut out? Also, after 9 of 15 found ineligible, are players from last year varsity getting to play?

Yes, a couple starters from last years varsity team from Hayfield still start this year

Less than 5 real Hayfield players start total (offense or defense).

The coach does not play the enormous bench. That doesnt help "his" kids stats and highlight reels.

What does that mean, specifically? What board? What documents?

Its not a successful program and you aren't a good coach.

Win some games by coaching a "organic" team and you might be considered a decent coach.

Everyone is laughing at the Potomac Mills all stars and their weird entourage of puffed-up coaches and hangers-on. You are a punchline.

I’m sure he plays the bench when they’re up by 50 points. Why would any team leave their starters in that long? That’s when you start pulling from the jv bench. That’s coaching 101.

That wont cause Tech to revoke the offer. Most male athletes in high school that stand out are are a little older than their peers.

Not this guy. He doesnt consider himself the coach of the Hayfield team, only the coach of "his" players. He wants to boost their stats and get them clips to show recruiters.
