Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Anonymous
There's a freshman starting on Varsity at my kids school with a July 2008 birthday. He should be a junior. Reclassing has gotten out of control.

He played his starters the full game that we watched

The Hayfield Clemson commit who had been ineligible was on the field tonight and scored a TD.

How was he ineligible? I’m curious how it’s known because FCPS and Reid tried very hard to say that the identities of the 9 ineligible students should be kept private. So my question is, if no one knows who they are, how does anyone know if they are playing at games or not?

This one was particularly high profile because he was a D1 college commit. He did not play in any game prior to last night and then caught a TD last night.

He was cleared on Wednesday.

Cleared of what?

Cleared to play, some people in the board just had to sign off on some documents.

What does that mean, specifically? What board? What documents?

This is strangely vague. He sat out half the season because "some people" couldn't be bothered to sign "some documents". That's your story? LOL.

Some people needed to sign some documents stating that he was passing the requisite number of classes. They could not sign those documents before Wednesday because he was not.

If the Hayfield leadership was prepared to get an administrator who questioned what was going on with the football program transferred to another school, you can be damn sure they will lean on teachers to give these football players passing grades. The only remaining integrity at Hayfield is teachers who refuse to play along with the charade.

Our kids were in the Hayfield schools and all got bullied. It was bad at times. Dark. We moved and suddenly they were like different (read: happier, relaxed) people. It was like there was something in the undercurrent there. I spent a lot of time comforting our kids behind the scenes. People were just mean to, and dismissive toward, each other. Our kids didn't bother to try out for sports because the said it would be impossible to try out and/or get a spot on a team. Just our experience.

Even assuming Maxprep rankings are worthless, is Hayfield not higher because West Springfield wasn’t a shut out? Also, after 9 of 15 found ineligible, are players from last year varsity getting to play?

Yes, a couple starters from last years varsity team from Hayfield still start this year

Less than 5 real Hayfield players start total (offense or defense).

The coach does not play the enormous bench. That doesnt help "his" kids stats and highlight reels.

I’m sure he plays the bench when they’re up by 50 points. Why would any team leave their starters in that long? That’s when you start pulling from the
jv bench. That’s coaching 101.

Not this guy. He doesnt consider himself the coach of the Hayfield team, only the coach of "his" players. He wants to boost their stats and get them clips to show recruiters.

It would be nice if all the seniors get some playing time on senior night. Coaches like to do that in football and basketball.

Could a bunch of the transfers all rent apartment and have multiple kids living at same address to meet residency?

If you people think Hayfield players care what your random child thinks bout then, I have a bridge to sell you. They want to play football in college. Nothing else.

You are correct. The Clemsons of the world don’t care about high school rules.

In fact, Clemson’s program is an evangelical institution with a football team. In fact Christianity is the way they recruit black players, with baptisms on the practice field! Little wonder the Apostle wears Clemson gear, and thinks a deity cares about the outcome of high school football games.

And your last statement about nothing else is doubly accurate. Most don’t care about academics, and the washout rate in terms of playing significant minutes at a P4 school is high, whether due to injury, lack of speed or flexibility after putting on the needed weight, and so on. P4 football is a relatively low odds gamble, and I am surprised so many in the community think it a good idea. Many of these kids are exploited- unlike with Olympic sport athletes, most of whom obtain a valuable education and go on to do well (black athletes included).

This is why schools like Bishop Sycamore are popping up left and right. Sadly there is a lot of exploitation.

Win some games by coaching a "organic" team and you might be considered a decent coach.

Everyone is laughing at the Potomac Mills all stars and their weird entourage of puffed-up coaches and hangers-on. You are a punchline.

It’s gonna be an organic championship trophy he gets

Everyone who isn't part of the cheating drug posse believes that any win is not legitimate and we are all snickering at how pathetic this coach and how fragile his ego must be.
