2025 Girls Lax WCAC + ISL Outlook

Potomac has little depth. Not a huge talent pool to choose from given its a co-ed school and its rather small.

SR will likely dominate the ISL this Spring with Potomac or the Saints battling it out for 2nd and 3rd place.

That is keeping in mind that Fall Brawl is 7v7, and that full field requires more depth. Something a PP failed to do.

Potomac has some solid seniors and juniors. Their depth is fine. Visi seems a little short on talent although their top couple players are as good as anyone out there.

Potomac has some sophomores and freshman that will contribute as well. Agree on Visi's top players, but don't count out the 2028s there either though.

2028 is a weak class, and many of the good players will play for public schools. For WCAC + ISL, SJC probably has the best group of 2028 players.

On the ISL, for the VA/DC area top players, there is a pretty decent spread--2 and 3 Cap Blue players at Potomac, Visi, and SSSAS, for instance. I believe, SR only has one Capital player in the 2028s, but multiple from Hero's and maybe other MD clubs.

A few M&D also usually show up somewhere.

A few Capitol players are at St. John's.

Regarding the ISL in 2025: Usual top 4, but huge pressure on 2 teams.

First, Potomac. We have heard for many years how great the 25 class is, which is talented but thin for sure. Potomac has been unable to get farther than the semis in the ISL tournament in the last 4 years. If they don't win it all this year or even make the finals, it is hard to imagine when they will ever. They have some talent in the younger classes, but nothing compared to the '25 class. If they don't win this year, the Potomac parents may soon go back to describing the school as "academic-minded" more on the lines of Sidwell or NCS.

Second, Saint Stephens. No titles in the last 2 years in Alexandria for either ISL or Virginia. When was the last time that happened? KJ and her HOF staff have not delivered in awhile. If the ISL goes to a shot clock, their coaching philosophy will have to change. Parents are getting impatient as she keeps a pretty short bench but still no trophies. Their '26 class is great. We will see if they can deliver.

When will the announcement be about ISL going to a shot clock if that is to happen?

Not really. They mainly have their junior class - they are the ones that play almost full games - save a couple of seniors. Same situation as with Potomac but their senior class.
