Question for someone who knows: is there anything voters can do to actually convince Biden to step aside?

+1 that’s what I’m saying.

You can’t trust people who are doing what democrats are doing- to their own country! And Joe is at death’s door. They are hurting him and don’t care, you think they care about you? Hell no.

Guys, nobody is buying this. The reason people love Trump and hate Trump is because we all know who he is and what he stands for. Himself. All he cares about is himself. The media has not been "hiding" who Trump is. The only thing the media has been guilty of is giving him too much airtime because he is like a car crash, everyone wants to stop and watch.

democrats are killing Joe to maintain power. That’s sick.

Nobody is forcing him to stay in the race.

He doesn’t know what he’s doing. Democrats are taking advantage of a very sick man who can’t think properly. It’s wrong.

How are Democrats "taking advantage"? To what end? Vast majority of Democrats think Biden is set to lose the election.

That man cannot make decisions for himself and his wife cares more about being flotus than she cares about her husband. politics doesn’t mean squat compared to the health and wellbeing of your lifelong partner. *to normal people, not the political class, I am well aware. Gotta get rid of your conscience to compete politically.

This is a great read, and, damn, does it ever capture my exact thoughts.

Ron Filipkowski's take. Pundits should shut up and Biden should stay.

Thanks to both PPs for posting the articles. From Ron F's article, I took away that he believes the ONLY way Biden will step aside is if Biden himself and Jill want to. And the only way they will come to that conclusion is if their very small, very tight group of advisors encourages them to do so. And these advisors will definitely not encourage Biden to step aside - their livelihoods depend on Biden becoming president.

It is ridiculously sad that Joe and Jill Biden are unwilling to listen to the American people. I can't in good conscience vote for him.

I understand that. I don’t think it’s worth a man’a life, and qol, to compete in a possibly losing election. It can’t be good for him.

Excellent point. However I've seen Trump talk and he is in confirmed cognitive decline.

I am not trusting the media. I am trusting my eyes and ears, PP.

Neither Trump nor Biden are remotely fit for the Presidency. It's flabbergasting we've let ourselves come to this. There is collective guilt here from the American people. We need to acknowledge that.

And now one party has a chance to fix their side. We need Biden to step aside and we need to pick someone actually fit for the job. The GOP is a lost cause.

And yet the media did not ask for Trump to step down. Did you wonder why?

Sure. The media should call for Trump to step down but that doesn’t negate that fact that Biden should bow out Biden has no chance against Trump who is a terrible candidate himself.

Agreed. A campaign - while being president of the United States - would be absolutely grueling for an 80-something man. My husband ran for US congress years ago and it is incredibly physically and mentally demanding!

Anyone can read from a teleprompter. Not everyone can go back and forth in a debate after 7-10 days of preparation in top notch accommodations.

Yes, the use of a teleprompter is a key reason that Biden did so well with the SOTU. Add in that he has been reading off teleprompters for half his life and muscle memory kicks in.
Cognitive decline is not linear. There can be significant cognitive changes over brief periods of time.

And Americans should admit their guilt in personally causing this situation. All of us! How dare we all personally control the DNC and RNC. What were all 300 million + of us thinking?

I would've taken them seriously if they had done that with Trump first.

Many of us have felt this way even before Joe selfishly decided to run again….and his being 82 on Election Day!

Take your condescension and shove it.

The primary results beg to differ. You shove it.

Most Democrats thought and think he is too old but that doesn't entitle Marianne Williamson or Dean Phillips to the nomination. The problem is nobody serious wanted to run against Biden. This is his fault for not showing down.

I don't think people understand how the major parties work. No serious contender would challenge a sitting president. They would have zero support from the party. It would be a death knell. The reason nobody mentioned as replacements ran against him is because they'd all love a shot at the presidency.

+1 understood. It’s awful. I don’t understand Jill. It would destroy me as a spouse to watch my elderly husband fall, be confused, be mocked, be physically failing and know he doesn’t have to do these exhausting things. Let’s say Joe runs and loses. He’s going to continue to decline. Who knows what goes on when there are no cameras. Joe loses and goes home to decline further and most probably die soon. He spent his last few months/years of his life in the political meat grinder. I would feel so guilty!

Do you use a teleprompter when talking to a room full of friends/supporters/colleagues? That's what Biden did at the major NJ fundraiser. He read from a teleprompter.
